Setup was fairly easy. After making my own pass through the wall for the exhaust I would have purchased the pass though module. Once I had it setup just added diesel and 12v power and it fired up and ran without issue. I have 40 ft shipping container/barn and it does a decent job of keeping the temps above freezing even at the lowest setting. I found the manual less than helpful, it seems to be written for the unit that is not in a prefabricated box like this one is. I just use the remote controls On button to start, and Off button to shut down. Been using it now for a few weeks with no issues.

Update: Still love this heater, but her is an update on the real BTU's. Here is the math:1 watt = 3.41 BTU'sStated claim of 8KW = 8000 x 3.41 = 27,280 BTU'sMy heater running on high/max (5.4 hz on the pump), I got 11.5 hours runtime on 1.3 gallons1 gallon of diesel is 137,000 BTU's.1.3 gallons diesel x 137,000 = 178,100 BTU's in the fuel178,100 BTU's in the fuel tank / 11.5 hours = 15,486 BTU's per hour15,486 BTU's / 3.41 = 4,541 WattsOf course my measurements could be off a little, but even with that, this is a 5kw unit, but that is to be expected. Just be aware since I don't think there is anything larger than a 5kw unit on the market. Also you won't get all the BTU's out into your heating application. You'll loose some to the inefficiencies such as exhaust, and other losses of fuel burn efficiency, etc.Original Review:Love this heater. Once you have a hose with fresh warm air, the applications are endless. Under a tarp to heat something up to work on, in your garage, under the hood of a car, into a crawl space to dry it out and warm it up with positive ventilation. Its just awesome for cold weather. Unit is very clean burning after startup. Also make sure to go through the proper shutdown sequence. When you turn it off let it run through its cooldown cycle until the air stops blowing. That said, I upgrade the fuel lines to a name brand yellow stuff and added an inline fuel filter along with fuel clamps. Big box hardware stores sells 8 foot x 3" foil duct for a reasonable price. I added a longer pipe to the exhaust to get it further away from the intake.Fuel line is 3/16 IDFuel Clamps that fit my yellow line were 6-8mmCurrent Draw on startup is around 13amps at 12vOn the highest setting it draws somewhere around 3-4 ampsOn shutdown it also fired up the glow plug for about a minutes (13amps at 12v)And on the lowest setting it draws less than 2amps.I'm testing my unit on a workmate table since it has a slat in the middle that allows me to pass the exhaust though.Hope this helps someone.

Originally, idea seemed a great heat source as I wanted. However, I have spent more time troubleshooting error codes (E-6... "not functioning") than enjoying heat. Poor instriction and complicated programming that deletes upon every power shutdown. Exhaust in low clearance under side. I wrapped tube with as much fireproof wrap as will fit and still needed to mount on additional metal riser... A lot of additional expenses and effonrt to later find it is unreliable. Maybe just me, but if i need this heat source, I don't want to be out in cold (and night) fighting it in frustration.

I used this for Ice fishing one time so far. I love that the unit was outside my tent and only warm air was blowing in with no exhaust fumes, oxygen depletion, or carbon monoxide.Pros: Great on fuel usage. I have run it for about 4 hours on the highest setting and used about 1/2 gallon of diesel. It's warm, even in my uninsulated ice fishing tent, it kept us comfortable after the sun went down.Cons: It's a little heavy, so you'll need a sled with all your gear. Also it requires a 12v battery. I have a small battery which proved to be too small as it died in 2.5 hours. We end up rigging it to the fish finder battery to finish the night. It's a little louder than other heaters, but it didn't bother me, it sounded like warmth! The exhaust pipes out of the bottom so you need to be mindful of that when you are placing it wherever you are placing it.

Very impressed with performance of unit. Love that it’s nearly self contained. I have it in my 7’x16’ enclosed trailer. At 25 degree outside temp, it got interior temp to 65 within 15 minutes. One deep cycle battery doesn’t last very long to power it (2-3 hours). Fuel efficiency is great; one tank of diesel lasted about 10 hours.

It works as discribed , there isn’t much to the setup, but the manual is weak in explaining the key pad.Other than that, I set it up to feed the house as a test (small house) it ran for 8 hours, outside temperature was 20’F it maintained the house at 75’ F and the furnace never started. It burn 3/4 of a gallon

This diesel heater is packed with power.. comes with a super handy remote which I use constantly; extremely useful and convenient. I Originally purchased it for heat near the pool. Resourcefully set it up by using heavy duty, adhesive duct, aluminum tape. Then wrapped it in a fiberglass woven heat wrap and hung it on a firmly installed shepherd hook and some zip ties.So far, no air leaks..(2 months in use). and I'm saving somewhere around 25% fuel.It has also changed our way of life on the boat. Only Wish I switched years ago! We Never have to worry about tripping a breaker again. The heat that this unit puts off is amazing and being only 12v, it has freed up all the power we were using with the electric heaters that was consuming most of our 30amp 120v service. 15 degrees outside, it's a toasty 70 for us. We're in t-shirts and can look over and see our neighbors inside their boats in down jackets and hats. Can not recommend enough.Well worth the money!
