The lights are powerful and it works as long as the URINE YOUR TESTING IS DRY! It's easier to use at night but if using during the day, it must be extremely dark. It worked way better and easier when we used at night.

I could often smell where my cat had "gone" outside of his box but missed some of the clean up. He would repeat at the same spot. Now I can finally see all areas that have to be cleaned. In the dark, the light makes what I missed visible.

The light arrived quickly but the included batteries were dead. Light did not work with the batteries. Once I put my own batteries in the light it worked. Why bother including batteries if they are dead.

Lately my dog has been peeing every day on the carpet. The house smells like urine. Everywhere. In every corner of the house. I keep shampooing the carpet like crazy. And still the smell is there. It is really pervasive. When I saw this urine detector, it was like seeing celestial angels singing "Hallelujah". I was thrilled. Finally I was going to be able to find the source of the smell to clean it and my house was going to smell like roses again. I shipped it overnight. I could not wait a day more. Yesterday I came from work. Without wasting a second, I ran to get my urine detector. I turned all the lights off because I wanted to spot every single drop of urine on the carpet. But nothing. There was nothing on the carpet. Hum, maybe it is my nose, I thought. My son came to me to ask me if I was able to find any stains on the carpet. As he was walking towards me barefooted, just two feet from me, he said "here is wet". I pointed at the spot where he pointed at with the urine detector and there was nothing. No stains. Not a single smidgen of stain on the carpet. I touched the spot with my hands and effectively it was pee. I think you should know by now that I am extremely disappointed. I think a camping flashlight would do a better job at finding urine stains.

Wasn't really sure what outcome I was gonna get using this..veey impressed with this light. It has shown way more than I expected. It even shows how well I have cleaned urine prior to getting the light. It also shows areas that need to be cleaned from other spills etc. Thanks for this wonderful product! I will now being spending my weekend cleaning with it by my side!

I've never written a product review before but I have to say I am totally pleased with this purchase. The light does what it is supposed to do. My male cat dribbles sometimes after letting go his enormous pee and this allows me to see very clearly where the drops are so I can clean them easily and quickly before they dry or seep into the tiles. (Actually I have just recently put down some plastic shelving material so that the tiles will be preserved. That was also a great purchase here at Amazon.)…..Also, it will detect dried urine spots…or water for that matter. You do need for it to be pretty dark..not a problem for me since the litter boxes are in a little alcove in my bathroom and I can shut off the light after reaching for the little black light on a shelf. I can't vouch for other brands of these black lights but this one gets a gold star from me. Meow! My seller was KPETS and the service was purrfect.

Item was delivered as promised and seems to work for its intended purpose!*Unrelated to product effectiveness* Unfortunately I cant actually tell if its working for the cat urine i bought it for (as I've tried washing the area with a urine destroying product already) but the room in question may have been peed on in more than one spot (which is possibly why it still smells a little like urine) and it DOES show areas with a pee like pattern which I havent washed/cleaned yet. Theres also one corner behind the door in the room which has a big spattered mess look to it when the light is shone there.All in all, it does have a lot of BLUE light emit from it, not sure if that is a sign of product quality but its hard on the eyes (like just shining it in general against the rug or a non reflective surface, after a few minutes my eyes hurt. I probably should be wearing UV glasses but havent when testing product out.To summarize - I believe product to be effective for what it was designed for. Shows messes that have been cleaned previously (cat throw up and such) under the UV light. I would recommend this product from what i've seen!

It’s great for illuminating white objects such as cables, cords, colorful plastics or rubber.Our upstairs carpets smell like a public urinal. What does the black light reveal? Nothing.It's good at illuminating small things but when I discover something under the black light, I turn the room lights back on to find that the backlight has simply illuminated revealed a small, some lint and other things that that easily are visible to the naked eye.I usually rate an item two stars if I’m entirely dissatisfied. This one richly deserves its one start rating.For purely scientific purposes, and to determine when the black light works at all, I conducted my own experiment (it wasn’t peer reviewed). Let me simply state that I just may have peed on the bathroom floor a little. I let it a dry. In total darkness, in a windowless bathroom, the light doesn’t reveal it.I am so disappointed. I thought it would be a game changer with a 14-year old cat who pees frequently outside the litter box: on walls, baseboards, doors, furniture and, of course, carpet. Even the cats litter box shows nothing.I would recommend the black light only to people who absolutely love wasting time returning items. Or someone who wants to make their electrical cables glow like a club in the dark.
