Softride springs use only American steel and the individual leafs of each spring are shot-peened with hard steel pellets at very high velocities. This shot-peening compresses the surface of the steel thereby increasing the tensile strength of the spring. Without this shot-peening procedure, the maximum wheel travel and ride quality could not be achieved without sacrificing the life of the spring. Softride springs use bolt style spring clips, eliminating friction. Other spring designs use the cinch style bend clips which bend tightly over the spring leafs causing binding and friction. Skyjacker Softride springs taper over the entire length of the leaf creating more flex at the leaf ends. This tapering distributes loads more evenly over a greater area and reduces the tendency for one leaf to dig into the leaf above it.

Great product. The difference they make over my previous add-a-leaf and blocks is night-and-day! Highly recommended for 2.5 to 3" lifts.

Things you need to know. First I like these springs. I was worried that they may be really too soft as I have removed the rear sway bar but this is not the case. I started this project with 2.5” add a leaf springs in the rear, and it rode like they came straight from a 3/4 ton truck. Thinking these would be a straight swap I ordered just the springs.First thing is if you have a Dana 35 the u-bolts are too short as the spring pack is very thick and it has a built in wedge to help the drive shaft angle. You can get the nut on but it’s about 1 thread short when completely tight. Next, the brake line was fine with the old lift now I had to have a 18” flex line and if you have anti locks you must adjust your sensor wire routing. The new springs raised the back of the XJ an additional 1.5” which made my shocks too short. You could use the old ones but your downward travel would be restricted by the shocks. Lastly I was running a 1/2” t-case lowering kit and all was well. Now I have rear dive shaft vibration which is my next project.
