Item matched original, opened it and did add some white lithium grease but there was lube in there. Youtube shows people lubing the gear area but the old one had water infiltration and the shaft was frozen the gear pivots on.Installed by touching the point to the clutch actuator, and moving 3 lines.Synced up on its own and car moves again!

This part is not hard to install yourself, it's simply difficult to get to under the car. Installed the part and car worked great until now, 3 months later. Now, I have to order the same part because my car is experiencing the same symptoms. This part is not reliable...seems new but I think it may be a refurbished item.

Actuator was going out on my '09 smart for two. Purchased this guy and read some online reviews. We did open it up before we installed it and didn't see much lubrication on it. You don't know how long it's been sitting on a shelf so do yourself a favor and make sure you add some. Installation is easy. Three bolts. There is some play room with one of the bolts that can effect how your car shifts. This will take some tweaking to figure out. Don't assume it's the new actuator right away if the problem isn't corrected right away. This is stated in the manual as well. It's just been recently installed so I can't state how long it will last. What I can say though, my hard shifting and clunking into reverse is gone!

Unfortunately I had to order other parts from overseas so by they time those came in the return window had already lapsed which is on me. The receiving plug port on this part though was slightly over sized and the plug didn't want to fit all the way down to make good positive connection. Since it was already pasted the return date I went ahead and took the wiring receiver port off my old one to see if it would fit and it did, but it's connected to a metal bit that drives the shifter, and that was broke (and why the original needed replaced). So now neither unit works lol. It may have been something they could have swapped out if it was w/I return window and sent another unit that may have fit, but at the same time it should have fit the first time w/o needing to return also.

Just make sure that it is installed at the same time you do a relearn of the clutch or you can potentially burn your clutch out.

Worked everyday for 3 months and today it just died on me.. only this time stuck in gear on the road... obviously out of warranty period. The tow just cost me the difference between this and and an OEM Sachs unit.
