This is a fine practice mute with little resistance, adequate intonation and muted sound. Not as quiet as others, but, certainly workable. The inserts can be removed to create an alternative Bucket Mute.

I like this mute, specially the very little resistance that you feel. 4 star instead of 5 well is brand new and some of the thread is coming apart. I don't want to go the trouble of mailing the mute back so I'll just grab some thread and fix it my self.

Lighter and easy to store. Sounds better and feels better then your standard practice mute. Sounds good as a bucket mute too half hung off the bell(has rubber grip on inside) although it looks a little funny. However if you need a really quick change you're better off with the H&b(holding in front of bell unclipped) or jor ral.

Very disappointed with this, no matter how I configured the inside foam (even removed all of it) the tone was 'stuffy' - I was going for a warm Flugal horn sound but this didn't work. In addition the intonation was horrible, so I'm sticking with my Humes & Berg bucket mute which give a warm sound without the intonation issues. This mute is still available for around $22.

This thing is loved by my apartment house neighbors and is a great mute when I want to play behind a singer or just lower the volume without holding back too much. Love it.
