This is about a foot long and detects water in soil well. My plants have been doing much better since I started using it to guide when I water my indoor plants. It's easy to use and durable. Worth it!

We keep this in our plant that is very sensitive to overwatering. It helps us know when it is actually time to water. It seems to be accurate since our plant is thriving. The color is complementary to sitting in the pot with the plant. Seems to be good quality. We have had it for months now and it is still working properly. We live in the PNW and the humidity doesn’t seem to effect it’s readings.

I own two of these. One works perfectly and I use it and depend upon it all the time with watering my plants accurately. The second one does NOT read correctly. I compare the two on the same plant and #1says the soil doesn't need water, but #2 indicates it is dry. So these are simple to use but maybe the manufacturing quality is uneven. Still, for the money, if you get a good one, it's as good if not better than those digital readers (I own one of those too).

I love this plant moisture meter. It’s a really simple design, requiring no battery or electronics; you simply insert the probe into the potting soil of a houseplant & it tells you how moist or dry the soil is. I’ve had other moisture meters, but like this one the most. I just water my plants when the indicator tells me they need it. Couldn’t be simpler. The only thing you really need to know when using this is the proper moisture level for each of your plants. My shamrock plant requires frequent watering, but my cactus & aloe plants do not. Very happy with the price & the meter!

During the recent heat wave, the soil moisture meter was very handy. We have a number of garden beds and have quite a few hanging baskets and plants in pots. Not having to water them saves time and water. The meter made watering much more efficient and better for the plants - over watering can be just as bad as under watering.The meter is easy to use, accurate and an excellent value. It's now a vital member of our garden tool set.

I tend to either forget to water or sometimes over water. This helps to know when to water. Plants are looking better with correct watering. Would buy again.

bought two of them and one is still barely working, but almost dead, the other is history! used minimally and as directed, cleaning the point off after each use. Since this original post, GOUVEN contacted me and offered to send me replacements, even after I messaged them telling them it was probably my fault due to leaving in pot with soil in it. Do not leave in a pot, do not put in water, only use as a meter to determine your plants needs and then clean the tip after use. Great communication and assistance from their customer service team.
