I let this sit in the sun for 1 1/2 days before putting it in the birdbath. It works pretty well - IF the sun is shining on it. As soon as it gets cloudy or later in the afternoon when sun isn't overhead - it stops working. I thought the solar would collect and then the sprinkler would work for a duration of time.
