At first the 8 supporting beams seems flimsy and thin but once they are assembled they are rock solid. It took 30 minutes to assemble the shelves. It's very easy. Just line up the hole and tap the beams in. The unit works as designed. The grid shelves is great for the garage. All parts are included even if ypu want to make 2 shelves instead of one tall one.

I love this Songmics basement 5 tier metal shelving system. The box was really heavy but all of the pieces were packed safely and securely. When I sliced the box open and started taking the pieces out, I could tell right away it was a quality product by the thickness of the material, the strength of the shelves and just by doing the eye test.The notches on the poles are large to make it easy to install the shelf brackets - make sure the large end of the notches is on the top. Enter the shelf pin into the top of the notch. Use a rubber mallet to tap the shelf pin to the bottom of the notch. Once the shelf pin is in all the way, the shelf will stay in place until you remove it.If you do not have a rubber mallet, you can use a hammer. However, I would recommend hitting the hammer onto a towel instead of hitting the shelf directly to avoid denting or scratching. The rubber mallet that comes with the unit is very light duty, so it is difficult to actually tap the shelves down completely into the notches. The weight of this shelving unit makes it difficult to move very far, so be sure to assemble it near to where you are going to keep it permanently to avoid moving it too much. The weight capacity is listed at 2,250 pounds - literally over a ton! I doubt I will have that much weight packed on it when all is said and done, but I am pretty confident that it can handle A LOT of weight.This rack has tons of uses. You can use in the garage, the pantry, in the basement, in a closet, workshop, or any room really. Description says it can handle up to 2250 pounds and it feels like the whole unit can handle that amount of weight. The shelves are adjustable for your convenience. You can always find a use for this shelf, get it while you can. Haven’t had this long and I was going to use it for storage. It had a half basket of laundry on it, maybe about 15 lbs and I scooted it maybe an inch and the leg fully bent like this. Super cheap metal for it to bed that easily. Entire structure is incredibly wobbly. Not worth it for anything other than light storage

NOTE: this is the full 72" tall. For us, we have ceiling shelves (the kind that hang down from garage ceiling at front of garage, so we had to position this in an area between the hanging shelves (as we have 2). We had to move a shorter shelf and move things around to accommodate this.PRO: For a garage, this does allow you to use the full height of your garage. and store items up to the ceiling Sturdy We replaced a "plastic/resin" shelf that first warped, bent, then finally cracked from excessive weight upon it. Assuming the heat and cold and life span of 5 years took its toll on the plastic. Assuming this will last longer with it being metal. We store soda cases and cases of water in garage just outside the garage door entry to house. Able now to store excess laundry detergent which is too heavy to go in the laundry cabinets, I can get them off the laundry room floor. Position of top shelf can be determined (or at least the top shelf, (not sure if ALL shelves, I came in and end of assembly and wondered why the posts were higher than the top shelf.) . we did not position the top shelf at the full 72" level. as we knew we would have to get on a step stool just to lift items up above our heads. Instead, he positioned the shelf lower than the full height of the rods, so that we could reach up to the top. (more for me, the shorter person to reach)CON: Hubby did wish the shelf was solid panel and not "grated". He said that when pushing items along the grated shelf, it takes more effort to slide them about.

Easy to assemble, excellent build quality, materials are heavy duty for the type of shelf this is. Works very well to store all of our gardening supplies. Holds a lot of weight but is easy to move into place.

This is actually a clever design. You can use it as two sets of shelves as well. The rails to support go on the INSIDE of the legs, it is not super clear on the diagram but if you look at the photo you can clearly see it. However, it is not as large as shown in the photo, unless that black and yellow container is smaller than the standard one like it. Only ONE black and white tub (like the kind you get from the membership or big box store) will fit on the shelf. They fit nicely, but only 3 stack within the shelves with max spacing. A better rubber mallet will make the job easier.I would not put 450 lbs on each of these shelves, but 100 would be fine.
