I looked at SO MANY different 'regular' plant stands before making this purchase.... seriously, I lost count!Even so, I was reluctant to pull the trigger on this one because the cost was a bit more than I was hoping to spend.I ultimately decided to buy it, thanks to Amazon's awesome return policy. I figured if we hated it or found it of low quality, I could simply return it and continue my search for something else.Luckily, however, I didn't have to spend a single additional minute searching for 'the perfect stand' because this was it!The reason I put so much time into finding something as simple as a plant stand is because it was to be used at my boyfriend's law office, and is one of the first things clients (and potential clients) see when they walk into his lobby. We both love it -- as does his staff, and visiting clients/vendors. I know this because many have verbally complimented it, w/o being asked or provoked. :)The potted 'money tree' now sitting on it was too large for the conference room table, yet too small to be kept on the floor. This stand solved our problem beautifully! Both my boyfriend and I consider this purchase money well spent.Note that when flipped over like we have it, there are several small round black rubber pieces that are meant to protect the floor when it's used upright, as an umbrella/cane stand. They can be peeled off, but we decided to leave them in place. We were concerned the office's robot vacuum might cause the plant to fall off when it bumped into it each night, but the rubber pieces have helped to keep the pot in place -- and the plant is heavy enough to avoid having the stand literally pushed around by the vacuum.

I read the reviews, not all of them. To look at the more expensive umbrella type stands, all to come back to this one. I wanted something you could see into, while not being a piece of garbage. That's why, when I saw the word versatile. I imagined how it would look with swords in it.Yes, swords!I plan on moving, so I needed to rethink where and what to take. As well as, what goes where. I looked into a wall sword rank, to not be able to put holes into the walls or want too. That's why, I started looking into a standing sword rack. The reviews were great, ok and get yourself some wood, an make your own. So I started to think, outside the box. where could I put my growing sword collection, where they would be safe and still able to get too. a garbage pail, no. what about, I went though a list. in the end, I was looking at gun racks. Yes, they can do more then hold guns. When I saw a sword, hidden inside an umbrella.Eureka!I had found what I was looking for, now all I needed to do, was find one. For I wanted it to be stylish, but not better looking then the swords. I wanted it to be white, giving off a lighter look. Lastly, I wanted something made out of metal. What I didn't want, was a piece of crap. I'd toss into the trash, after I moved. What I got, was a useful bright container, that safely stores my sword and knife collection.I removed the drip tray, for two inch white foam padding I got at Walmart. Cutting it into a circle, I tucked it into the bottom. So my swords would rest gently on that, an not on the metal base. I placed a thin wrap around the inside top, to keep the scabbards from touching or being damaged by the metal edge. Lastly or before I started, bent the umbrella stand back into shape. Somehow, even with the packing, it got bent into an oval. The only downside or negative remarks I can offer, come in how the umbrella stand was welded or overlapped. It would of been better if they could of somehow joined the two pieces together, by connecting them. Oh, an making sure all the cut out areas had been properly filed down. there was a nick or two, I had to buff down first.I know in shipping, things get bent, broken and destroyed. so bending it back into a round shape, no loss of a star there. The drip tray fit, even if that's was tossed right off. For a white bowl made out of metal, would work better then that cheap piece of plastic. Plus, who gently puts an umbrella into a stand. Its in what, three to five inches and then you let go. That drip tray, would of ended up cracked in no time. The reason for the loss of a star, umbrella are made out of rip-able material. so any nicks, barbs or unfiled areas, would do more damage then you having to re-bend it back into shape.Style, liked!Metal, liked!Color, offers a brighter container, liked! The folding over of the metal, not liked! The sharp barbs that can snag, umbrellas and skin. Bad, VERY BAD!Overall, until I can build my own standing sword rack or find one that's worth buying. My swords will have to just pretend, they're umbrellas.

I purchased this to store my child's long toys in - baseball bats, butterfly nets, etc. With the holes in it my kiddo can see what toys are stored in there, and it looks nice! It came with a clear plastic 'bowl' to go in the bottom of the stand to collect any water that drips, and it also came with two hooks that hang from the top of the stand to hold small items. My only complaint is that I ordered the black stand and the hooks came in white, but that didn't warrant a star off on my review. It's a good, solid umbrella stand that will serve its purpose!
