I have to say I am very pleased with my recent purchase of the Starlink Mini. I purchased a car charger for it and had continuous internet in the Patagonia Chile. I attempted to connect it to a power bank that I had which unfortunately did not work. I will be looking for a portable power source when I return to have the flexibility to take it backpacking on future trips.

I did not find out until I activated the Starlink which is required by Starlink. If the unit was not originally set up for use in the United States, Starlink will charge you an "Outside Region Fee" of $300, if you do not deactivate the unit. The unit I received was originally manufactured for use in South America. None of this information is mentioned when you buy a unit on Amazon. The Starlink website provides information on authorized retail stores. I ended up purchasing the unit from Best Buy for about $150 less.

I ordered the Starlink Mini which was advertised to ship 2-3 weeks out. I was impressed when it shipped almost one week early. The unit arrived, I unboxed it, set it out, followed the directions, and I was up and running with internet—all within 10 minutes of the delivery. I was super impressed!!! Thank you!

These are gray market units that are not intended for the US and will trigger a $300 out of area activation fee from Starlink. I am returning and have purchased a US spec unit at Best Buy instead. $100 more to purchase at Best Buy but $200 cheaper total than the gray market units due to no out of area fee.
