Pros & Cons

My 4dr 2013 Jeep JK with 130k miles was hesitating at low RPMs and cutting off completely when at a complete stop or when changing gears. I was having to turn the jeep off put it in park before restarting to get going. This put me in some potentially dangerous situations so I had to find a fix.I tried a lot of other fixes before I found a forum sayin this may be the culprit. Cheap and easy fix, one 10mm screw under the passenger side, 5 minutes and it was done. I can confirm that his part does work.

This crankshaft sensor works and fits perfectly. My 2012 Jeep Wrangler with 68K miles had an intermittent jerking and bucking condition especially when it was windy and cold outside. No kind of codes were ever retrieved or stored; my local Jeep dealership were unable to find or fix the problem. The problem finally got a little more consistent where I could track it down. Vehicle would stall out when put into reverse without warming up engine when temps were cold. Replaced the crank sensor and all issues went away.

I replaced this on a 2013 Jeep Wrangler JKU.My Jeep is lifted about 3 inches and I was able to slide underneath on a creeper and get easy access. There is a locking tab on the cable that you need to pry so you can unplug. I used a very very slim small screwdriver that I slid under the tab (No prying). This was enough to raise the tab and then I wiggled the connector free.I lubricated the o-ring on the new sensor with a little engine oil and then installed and snugged up the bolt and then plugged back in the cable. The cable is held to your engine with some of those plastic tie downs and I did not remove any of them while doing this.Never done this before and the replacement probably took me 10 to 15 minutes. I spent the most time trying to gently unplug the old sensor as I didn't want to rush and break the locking tab on the harness. After replacement the Jeep fired right up.I then plugged in my ODB2 scanner and checked for any codes, warnings, or live reading that could indicate an issue. No issues and no "relearning" procedure needed or performed. This is a fairly easy replacement.

Just as I read from some other JKU's (mine is 2012), I was starting to have an issue where the Jeep would just lose all power and die. Had to pull over on the Autobahn, which is not an ideal situation. So, after this happened 2x (both random times), I did some research and most people recommended changing this part. I finally got the part, had it installed (bolt snapped when I tried to replace it) and I have not had any reoccurrence of a stall yet (1 week so far and drove it every day.

I have a 2012 Jeep JK and was having a problem when i went to put it in drive it would stall every time i thought the IDLE had to be turned up i asked a Mechanic and they told me Idle was fine So i ended up doing a little research and found out it was the Crankshaft Position Sensor. SO a long story short i am happy it was a very cheap FIX .
