This item would not work cause it was not OEM spec it was double the thickness of the original and would not properly lock on to the fuel tank

If you're changing a fuel pump these are almost always a necessity. Unless you live in an area where there's no rust you'll probably not be able to reuse the old lock ring. These work great and are inexpensive.
