Nice heavy feel. Beautiful finish. A really good buy. The instructions were a little vague, but after a couple of attempts I was able to get the inside turn knob to line up vertically. The one on the outside does not turn and it is in a vertical position, which makes it easy to pull the door closed or open. The inside one needs to be vertical too, for the same reason. The instructions make it seem like it should be horizontal, but that makes it difficult to open and close the door with the bar in the way.

I installed this on a pocket style door. It was not a simple installation with all the measurements after installation. The key would not come out of the lock and the privacy lock would not turn without the key in it. The company accepted my return and issued a refund I don’t know if it was defective or poorly made, but now I’m stuck, trying to find one that will fit in the existing holes that I put there.

I wanted this to be better then it is. At first everything was going good for the installation. Aside from confusing instructions the process was straight forward and much like installing any door handle. The problem began when I was testing the latch mechanism. Please bear with me as this is easier to see then describe. When the handle is rotated to extend the latch portion, if one taps it back toward the door it will jam up and the handle will no longer rotate and the latch will not fully retract or extend. This can happen pretty easily when testing the fit of the mortise that receives the latch. For example if it is partially extended and the alignment is just slightly off as the door closes it can bump into the door jamb. Or as I was doing actually pushing it in to see if it will jam up. This is a problem for what I would think is a pretty obvious reason, it's the basic function of a pocket door to slide closed. Once it encounters the jamb you then rotated the knob to engage. The problem is pocket doors always move a little and the latch in the jamb requires perfect alignment other wise it will not allow the latch to go into the mortise behind the strike plate. This means you have to be very purposeful when closing the door and engaging the latch so as not to bump the end and jam things up. Now you might say well just pull it forward with your hand and unjam it. No dice. I have found one has to loosen the screws on the front of the latch and wiggle the thing side to side while pulling it outward with a pair of pliers. Not ideal. Note also I have been using words like bump and push, that's because it takes very little force to cause this to happen. Fortunately with pocket doors the latch doesn't always need to be engaged like a hinged door. This is just one step up from a finger pull as it is. The only time one might need to use the latch function is for privacy, or to keep the dog from nosing the door open and jumping on the bed. Now you might be thinking maybe it's defective, well I bought two and the other one does it as well. I believe the problem is inherent to the engineering of the latch mechanism. I have installed other pocket door latch types in the past and I have to say I much prefer this style. Honestly all pocket door hardware leaves something to be desired IMO anyway. I would think that's because there just not common enough to make it pay to work out the bugs. Also nothing beats a hinge for simplicity. The aesthetics are good and it was the style we where looking for. I used a couple of hole saws, readily available jig, a utility knife and some sharp chisels. I didn't even need to dismount the door. It's also available in a number of finishes and there is a keyed version.

The lock is constructed really nice, Unfortunately away my packet door it's cut. I could not use it. But I would like to find a use for it somewhere else. Seems really solid
