Wow! I always wanted an offset guitar and did a little research before purchasing. As with many products there are positives as well as negative reviews and you have to weigh the options. That being said I decided to give the squire 70’s CV Jaguar a try. Before the guitar arrived I will admit I was very skeptical & expected something that would require a lot of work & attention to make playable. (Side note: I had a horrible experience with an American made telecaster a couple of purchases ago in hindsight I should’ve returned or refused the guitar but did the work needed to be done). When the Jaguar arrived I can say the setup was perfect as well as everything else. The quality was on par or better than the higher dollar fenders and the sound is excellent! I am very impressed. Made me a believer! Import or not this guitar is worth the price!

I have to save right off that this guitar sounds very very VERY good right out of the box and the pick ups are excellent especially the next pick up. I got mine used on Amazon for $360 and I can’t find anything wrong with it. I’m usually a Les Paul or 335 guitar player, but I’ve had early 1960s Jaguars and I like the different settings especially with a Mid Cut switch-and the different sounds that these guitars can generate. It’s very unique to the Jaguars and Jazzmasters and I really enjoy the feel of the offset body both sitting and standing plus I really like hearing the single coil pickup sound. Even at $450, this one sounds as good as the Fender Jags and I love it so much that I bought the 60’s Squire Jag with the white finish AND the white headstock.Honestly, I don’t care about the name on the guitar when the stuff coming out of China that is finished so well and the electronic all work perfectly. I would rather it come from the USA but those people have a work ethic that borders on masochism! We’re too spoiled to allow that!

Impeccable is all I can say! Wasn't expecting this level of craftsmanship but they blew it out of the park. The guitar even came perfectly setup and in tune which is amazing for a jaguar type instrument. The color is a little bit duller in person but it still looks amazing; I expect it will bloom when the UV rays ages it. Anyways, did I mention poplar bodies on Jaguars are indeed vintage accurate? Also, I cannot tell the laurel fretboard from a rosewood one. Its very nice and consistent unlike rosewood which you will get the luck of the slim pickings. I would rank these up there with their japanese counterparts in terms of craftsmanship. I forgot to mention that the electronics sound amazing: alnico pickups!Maybe this guitar is not 100% vintage accurate in some small things but this is an axe of its own. These will be legendary in the near future, and may be dissed like japanese squiers where back then. In the mean time this guitar will serve wonders in my classic rock inspired cover band. I was not a believer but now I want the jazzmaster too!

I had seen a few video teardowns of the Squier Classic Vibe 70s Jaguar and had my concerns, but I decided to take a chance and order through Prime so I could return it if needed.I am keeping the guitar. Here’s my take:Pros -• The 22-fret neck feels great; shorter scale length makes it pretty easy to play. My Strat and Tele each have 21 frets, and I like the extra real-estate that even the one additional fret provides.• Alnico pickups are jangly and punchy, and once I figured out the Jaguar’s switching I was pulling warm jazziness, solid overdriven rock, Tele twang, and Strat chime, but all with something extra that I think might be unique to the Jag. Sounded real nice. Didn’t hear any hum even with gain, but that’s going to depend on other factors besides just the guitar, so don’t rule out the possibility of hum/noise with your own gear.• No “barbed-wire” frets when running my hand along the side of the neck.• Electronics are sound. The switching takes getting used to.• Guitar is holding tune.• Was planning to put in locking tuners, but I kinda like these vintage style tuners.• Looks fantastic. Let’s all just agree that this is important 🤘Cons -• The stock tremolo plate/arm assembly on the Squier Jag really is garbage. Expect to either replace it or to put in some elbow grease if you have the know-how and tools (I don’t).• Laurel fretboard is bone dry.• Some annoying sitar sounds due to strings making contact in weird places.• Some high spots on the neck.• Very slight string binding at the nut.You can see that the majority of the Cons will be alleviated by a normal setup which we should be doing anyway on a new guitar. I am also having an official Fender American Vintage tremolo assembly put in. If you buy this Jaguar, expect to do something similar, so do be sure to check the price on a replacement Jaguar trem assembly and factor it in to your total cost. Other companies besides Fender make Jag trems, but I wanted to stay in-house because I like the consistent branding and I’ve heard good things about the official Fender AVRI trem as a replacement for the Squier one.In spite of my initial disappointment with some of the out-of-the-box issues like the trem, I still played the guitar for several hours the day it came in, and more the next day before dropping it off at the shop for setup. Really looking forward to getting it back with a proper setup and new trem. Thanks for reading. I hope this has been at least somewhat helpful as you make your decision.

Anyone trying to buy a high quality guitar for this price, this is it. Beautifully made, what else can I say... sounds great as well. Beautiful glossy finish on the neck, block inlays inluding the first fret. Maple neck with rosewood fretboard. Bunch of circuits/buttons to learn/choose from to find your tone. Real nice vintage feel on this guitar. Can't believe its a squier. Can't beat that you have real Fender Alnico Jaguar pick ups in it as well, after intenseive research and watching reviews... I was beyond happy after ordering this guitar.

Bought this on a whim via Amazon after selling some gear. The guitar itself is really good value for the money you pay. Very nice neck and body, pickups are quite decent for this price point. Fretwork is good but needed a polish and fret ends are sharp and will need filing. Indian Laurel is no match for a rosewood or pau ferro fretboard as it just feels dry and needs a decent amount of conditioning and oil to feel good to play. Tuners and bridge and other hardware feel really good. Sounds beautiful unplugged and quite rich tonally. Overall, I think CVs are worth looking into and are a great modding platform. Was really shocked at how poor the packaging was from Amazon. Despite having written to them requesting extra care in the handling and packing, the guitar arrived in the original box with no extra padding or protection. What’s more surprising, is that there were large holes in the box and the box was even wet from the rain. It’s a miracle the guitar inside wasn’t damaged.

It is perhaps worth saying that i am comparing this Squier Mustang Classic Vibe with more expensive Gibson SG'61 Reissue, Fender American Vintage '62 Jazzmaster and Fender 60th anniversary American Stratocaster electric guitars. First of all the Squier Mustang is a beautiful guitar from every point of view, that however requires some proper setup.Pros:- The body is solid and thick, the neck and the head stock are great, smooth and very well done.- Surprisingly the tuners are of a decent quality and will keep the guitar in tune very well.- The bridge is good as well as the tremolo unit.- I did not remove the pickguard but i am sure that the electronics is of solid quality. Both volume and tone knobs are dead silent and issueless.- It sounds great, my favorite is the bridge pick up however both pickups together sound pretty awesome.- Very comfortable neck profile.Cons:- The only major issue this guitar has is a fret work, - the fret ends are razor sharp; which is however fixable using proper tools and experience.- One of the nut slots was filed flat causing a sitar effect on B string. These are the steps I did to bring the guitar to a very good level of playability:1) First of all i removed the cheap 0.09 gauge strings and dressed all the fret ends, one by one, applying tons of protection tape to the neck and the fretboard2) The fretboard itself was very dry and pale so it received some lemon oil treatment and was cleaned with a microfiber cloth - looks and feels MUCH better3) After applying some graphite lube to the nut, a new set of regular slinky 10-46 strings was put on4) The neck was almost flat so i adjusted the truss rod to add some relief5) Though it was easy to setup a proper action on low strings, the high E string went down to only 1.7mm at 12th fret with bridge being in its lowest position6) A major problem after the sharp fret ends was an open B string buzz (within both 0.09 and 0.10 string sets), identified as due to the nut slot improperly angled (it was too flat). This was casing the string to produce a kind of sitar vibrating sound. I did not have an expensive slotting file tool so a small sheet of 800 grit sanding paper folded in half did the job. The buzz disappeared!7) Once everything else was properly setup some bridge saddles required to be moved closer to the tremolo to improve the intonation.Fantastic guitar for this price. Hope this helps.
