I wanted a space to work on laying out glass or other mosaic projects and this seemed to be a good fit.It is a nice size and the adjuncts to help lay out and stabilize your project do work well.I like the fact that you can put the push pins into a recessed area to secure so they aren't in the way.I do recommend this.

I have really enjoyed using these to hold my projects together while soldering them. That they are bendable and can be molded and bent to just about any angle has been a huge help. Works great with a cork underlayment tile. 10-10 can recommend!

I am an art teacher and brought this set to my class working on stained glass feathers. The students ended up using just the pins and cork board because our design was so unique. It worked well and held onto their designs from day to day. I did let 2 solder on the cork and it scorched quickly but still useable, we usually solder on discarded ceiling tiles. The work was completed faster and with less frustration from puzzling back together the work from day to day.

Note: These pieces are made of heat RESISTANT (not necessarily heat-proof) silicone. Your results may vary depending on your soldering iron, the type of solder you are using (leaded or lead-free) and the time of any inadvertent direct contact with a hot iron, etc.Perfect when paired with heat-resistant cork squares but other underlays may also serve well.Here's what I like about this product:--trimmable to your specifications with a utility shears or sharp craft knife (inch long segments are marked for users' convenience)--fits curves and odd angles as well as square corners on your projects--no slipping as often happens with wooden L-squares--recessed pin area helps your push pins stay in place while you work--reusable many timesWhoever designed this tool deserves an award.

This layout block system works so much better than the aluminum blocks. They can be molded to your individual projects and kept in place with push pins, the silicone material they're made with is heat resistant, but also doesn't conduct cooler temps like aluminum does, and they can be cut to your favorite sizes. This layout block system is a very handy tool to have for all your stained glass projects, big or small. I can recommend it.

You get 12 pieces that are 12" long. You can cut them to length at the joints easily. They come with a bunch of push pins that interestingly enough are in long cardboard tubes for shipping but don't want to come out of the narrow tubes. You will have to tear apart the carboard to get the push pins out and then store them in some other container. The layout pieces are a rubbery material that are straight or you can bend them into shapes to outline your glass. I have a bunch of aluminum strait bars for clean edges but I like these for rounded edges for holding the glass in place for soldering. I am happy with the order.
