IM A MASON CONTRACTOR AND GOING INTO THIS MY MIND WAS, FOR $400 IF IT MADE IT THROUGH ONE JOB IT WAS A WINRIGHT OUT OF THE BOX STARTED 2ND PULL EVERY TIME. NOW ITS BROKE IN STARTS FIRST PULL EVERY TIME EVEN COLDPLENTY OF COMPACTION FOR ITS SIZE. I WOULDN'T GO MORE THAN 4-5 INCHES PER LIFTSMALL ENOUGH FOR ONE GUY TO LOAD AND UNLOAD IS A BIG PLUSTHROTTLE ON HANDLE, GENIUS! WHY DONT THEY ALL HAVE THATNOT ONLY FINISHED ONE JOB, ITS STILL LIKE NEW3HP MOTOR MIGHT HELP BUT DOESNT NEED IT 2 GETS IT DONEOVERALL THIS MACHINE HAS SURPASSED MY EXPECTATIONS , BIGTIME

Had this since early last year. Starts and runs great. Very useful. I calculated for my use just last year alone this cost less than renting one for the time I needed it. I was not expecting this to perform as well as it did. I rarely give reviews this glowing so hopefully you will have the same experience.

This smaller compactor was a good fit for my project needs. I used it on 2 days worth of projects so far, with more projects to come in the spring. This price vs the local rental price will be covered after about 3 or 4 days of use in total.The tool was well packaged, and impressively came with an extra air filter and extra drive belt. It was easy to get set up and start using. Welds seemed good, everything in place and in good order, good paint job.The manual could do with some work. There's no mention of how much oil the engine requires, you have to guess. The manual mentions a fuel petcock, there was none on the engine.The front vibrational cylinder driven by the engine was already filled with oil, but I strongly suggest you check this yourself. It was hard to remove the fill and drain bolts for that, had to get out a 3/8" drive socket and a breaker bar.The engine started fairly easily for this type of engine - choke it and pull a couple of times, back off the choke and yank again a few times.For Day 1's project everything worked fine, I ended with a mental review of 5. It performed great.Day 2, the engine would not start and run readily. The engine would sputter and die at idle. I had to keep the choke at say 40% to keep the engine running at a level comparable to the previous day. I had no time to fool with a carburetor strip down, so I ran like that for my second project. It all went fine.As a long time small engine user, I wonder about some factory debris in the carburetor/ fuel system. (I was using new fuel from a clean can.) Or perhaps something shook loose on Day 1, but seems unlikely. I did inspect the throttle cable and linkages.We'll see by the spring, a teardown is to come.

I unboxed the unit and was surprised it included a spare v belt and air cleaner…. I ensured oil levels ok in the engine and gearbox. I filled the gas tank and was the surprised by a leak near the carburetor. I quickly moved the unit out of my garage and let it sit on a brick walk overnight. Leaking stopped but unit will not start. Contacted Stark USA and got recorded line - left message…. I also used the Amazon "contact seller" chat feature.UPDATEI was contacted by the seller via chat, answered a few questions and was provided a FedEx return label. I had to remove the remaining fuel in the tank and carburetor and repack the unit. The hardest part was getting a 125 lb box to my local FedEx store. I am glad that the seller was helpful. I never got a call back from Stark USA.

I bought this compactor to prep my driveway for pavers, about 400 square feet. I must say it works great without any issues. Starts up easily everytime, it was a good buy. I would have spent more than the cost if I rented.

Worked well for compacting gravel for patio. Only problem i had was when I made a turn it would make a hump in the gravel were the turn occurred

This compactor saved me so much money. Renting would have cost me $100/ day for a whole week. I gave it 4 stars because the shipping box looked wrecked but luckily Stark did an amazing job of securing the compactor from impact. It does need to be topped off with SAE oil before use and it also leaks a little bit of oil due to poor gaskets. Either way this thing works great and it allowed me to take my time to compact the rocks evenly.
