Built tough. Will last a long time, will be given to my heirs. You get what you pay for. I recommend this product. Came out of the package and was used "right off the bat". I had to find the correct diameter pencil, no problem. (Plan on getting a better pencil that will be "earmarked" for this tool.)

Well, this is not a carpenter's divider - it's an instrument. It's expensive, but worth it. USA quality. I use it extensively for tile work scribing tile for cutting to match edges. The fact that you can put a pencil in it is what makes it attractive, too.

So I had already bought the 6†version of these dividers so I knew how good they were and how robust and well made they are, howerever when receiving the 9†version I firstly noticed the box had already been opened the tape had been cut, then I noticed the fixed side of the dividers were a little bit bent at the very end maybe the last 2mm so I thought never mind and I removed that tiny bent piece on a diamond stone as it wasn’t possible to straighten it was too small. Then when I looked along that same side of the divider I then noticed that it was all uneven and not straight. At this point I thought do I send it back? The price I paid was nearly £60 cheaper than the next cheapest place online which may have explained the condition maybe even though it wasn’t listed on Amazon to be like this. I decided against the hassle of returning and decided to attempt to straighten it myself by placing on a hard wooden surface wrapped in cloth and used a soft faced hammer to straighten it. The result was 95% straight. For the price paid I was happy but for the condition I received them in and the messing about to correct the bends in my dividers I have given the rating I have. If you buy these and receive them 100% new and straight then these are definitely 5*.
