This is a strong metal cant hook.It has a two piece handle...and...I thought that might be an issue with a tool that is used forcefully like a cant hook...but the attachment is good and the handle seems stout.I have a big wooden handle cant hook that I use and like quite a bit...and I think that this one will do as good a job.Good tool...long enough to roll some big logs.Good tools make the job easier.

This combination logging tool that advertises itself to function as 3 different tools: a cant, a peavey, or a pickaroon, by swapping out the “toeâ€, or (in the case of a picraroon) using the top half handle. This review focuses mainly on the cant & peavey functions, and this was the 48†model.First off, all the components seem to be fairly well made. The handle has a nice cushioned cover, the toe for the peavey is solid, heavy & has a good point, and the tip (foot?) for the cant seems to also be well made & painted. The hook also seems well made and also has a good sharp point. The painted finish is good, but WHY green and not a high visibility color?!? That seems odd to me.Both sections of the handle have a good weight to them, and kind of surprised me – I expected something much lighter. If you’re planning on using this quite a lot with a sawmill, you may have a different opinion after extended use.The included pickaroon spike is NOT curved, but a somewhat small spike that slips through the base of the top handle and is secured by either a nut or a cotter pin. It’s pretty nice that the provided nuts are stop nuts (the plastic inserts inside the nut that keep the nut from backing off). Nice. There is a pretty decent picture / instruction sheet that show which parts go together to form the various tools. It’s easy to see and to follow, with no “gibberish Englishâ€.At first I thought the length seemed a bit short (48†overall, and I’m 5’7â€) after I assembled it for a peavey. But after using it a bit the height was fine for me. If you’re tall, you may want to consider the 60†version instead. Now comes the one, and only, thing that I found frustrating. The two handle sections screw together with an internal male threaded rod & female threaded hole. I constantly had to keep retightening the two sections together. I suppose if you only wanted to use this as one tool you could put some thread locker on the rod, or some JB Weld and that solve that issue.Overall, it’s pretty well made, has some flexibility as to which tool you want to use, and works pretty well, with that one annoying issue I mentioned.

Seriously heavy tool, awesome thick free swing hook, wonderful comfort no slip grip, multiple tips for versatile usage. Definitely a piece to last a lifetime. Assembly was a breeze and the final piece is completely solid and secure.

I ordered this cantilever tool because I had multiple trees that needed to be taken down, and the ability to move the logs without having to cut them down too small was imperative. The tool itself seems fairly heavy duty, but where the two handle sections screw together, I found it necessary to drill and tap a hole to put in a set screw to keep them from loosening. Aside from that, this is a very useful, heavy duty tool that is perfect for getting the job done. It has made the process of moving logs much easier and more efficient. If you’re dealing with similar tasks, this tool is definitely worth considering.

I came across this tool by chance as it was advertised to me, I clicked on it out of curiosity as I had no idea what it was. As I read the description, I came to realize that it was advertised to me due to the fact that I am always buying tools for my yard and the occasional trimming or cutting a tree or two. Had I known that such a tool existed it would have made my life a lot easier a couple years ago when an entire tree fell and had to be cut and into pieces over time. I still have some logs in the yard from that tree and I immediately put this tool to work. I am not as young as I use to be so this tool is now a must have tool for working on cut trees. The HOTYELL Steel Cant Hook Logging Tool, Log Peavey and Pickaroon feels very substantial and well built. This is a tool that I am certain will last a good while. It comes with three functions, and I am sure if I was a logger those functions may come in handy. Using it as log peavy will be my main use and I might try the pickaroon with logs that are not too heavy. This tool allows me to finally move heavy logs with a lot less effort and less chance of me hurting myself by improvising with the wrong tools. I do have plans to take down a tree once the weather cools down so this tool will be put to the test very soon.Had I known that such a tool existed I would have purchased this tool a long time ago. I am very pleased with the usability of this tool, and I feel the current listed price is very reasonable considering the versatility, quality of materials, and construction of this tool.
