Well.. Wow. I do not know why it took me so long to order one of these, given their reputation. But I was only doing myself a disservice. I regularly carry a Fenix PD35 2014 Edition 965 Lumen 2xCR123A light in my left pants pocket, but it is both a drain on the pricey batteries and incredibly overpowered for your standard "I dropped something in the dark" kind of a thing, so I also always carry something else in the 9o'clock-most corner of my left rear pocket. After trying 2 and 1 AA lights I found the barrel diameter sufficient to be annoying, and moved to 2-AAA penlights. After trying several and chipping a tooth doing something with one in my mouth and something falling on the light, one with a hat clip became ideal. Enter the MicroStream, the pocket clip is excellently designed (most others rip off rather soon for me, this one has yet to even have the finish scratched) and does in fact work extremely well. Ontop of that, the momentary and constant on capabilities are done with a touch of quality one expects out of any Streamlight, Surefire, Fenix etc. without compromise from the lights size. Additionally, it is so light that I genuinely do not notice it's either in my pocket or clipped to my hat, even the HAT suffers no noticeable weight variation nor does the clip dig in to you. To top it all off, it's bright enough to shine at the ceiling and illuminate a dark room well enough to get dressed, shave, tie your tie, and be out the door. I did just that this weekend with no problems. The battery life is surprisingly long, and best of all its powered by ONE AAA (Duracell Procell for me) which makes more/spare batteries as easy and cheap as can be. I've also dropped it from about 6 feet onto a curb and then asphalt, on accident, and it didn't even scratch the finish much less affect functionality. For the price point, the fit finish and function being unsurpassed, and the assurance of StreamLight customer service, if you don't own one and are looking for a light of this species, stop looking. Don't waste your money on anything less than the Streamlight Microstream.

Why is it so hard to find a well-made, compact flashlight that simply turns on and provides a beam of light? Nowdays it seems like they all have multiple modes that you must click through before they behave like a flashlight. I've got some that strobe when I turn them on, then do an S-O-S thing on the next click, and only on the 3rd click can I get it to act like a frikking flashlight! This is NOT something I want to deal with when I hear the cat barfing in the middle of the night! I don't need to S-O-S a rescue plane while walking down the hall at 2-AM!Enter this little gem! The build quality is AWESOME! I have to depress the button with deliberate force which is good for preventing it from turning on by accident. I can also twist the column to disconnect the current. It's super tiny so it fits in any pocket without bulk. It comes with a convenient pocket clip, too. When I click it, all I get is a simple beam of light with a good throw pattern for something so small.Compact. Check!Built like a (tiny) tank. Check!Super simple. Check!I plan to get a few more for various rooms in my house and will give away the ones that strobe.

VERY bright in a small package. Good for EDC or for keeping in a tool bag for when you need more light than you'll get from a phone. This little guy can easily light up a work area or a small room. Streamlight quality build as well: it should last for many, many years.

This little guy is the most important tool I have with me at all times. I am a part time delivery driver for a private company, working anywhere from noon to 2am. It became natural for me to look towards a light that would fulfill the demands of the job.My criteria for a flashlight were as follows:-Price-Function-Size-Battery compatibilityPrice - I'm a college student, $20 for a flashlight is very reasonable. You get over 40 lumens of brightness and it's made from a well known company.Function - I need a flashlight that is easily deployable, carryable and usable. There is a momentary on switch which comes in handy when I need to illuminate house numbers or a path for only a few seconds. Also, the biggest selling point of the flashlight would be its simple on off function. Many companies are moving towards the versatility of having a low, med, and high beam and sometimes an SOS or strobe function on. All of that is unnecessary in my opinion and makes it harder for you to use it when you need it. You can do strobe and SOS by yourself if needed. Medium function is useless and low is only helpful when it is 2-3 lumens (say, if I'm in my car and need to look at a map). This flashlight is either on or it's off. Simple and clean. It's also waterproof. I am confident that if I were to drop it in a lake or put it in the washing machine, as many other reviewers have done, it will reliably turn on with the first click of the button.Size - Easily the smallest usable flashlight on the market. You can look at some other reviews and pictures if you want an idea of how small it is. It's about the size of a chapstick container or a pen. Fits great in my back pocket and is always there when I need it.Battery - Many of the similar priced flashlights on the market use a 18650 rechargable battery or a couple CR123A batteries. Good luck trying to find a CR123A battery or 18650 charger at a non specialty store; this Streamlight flashlight as well as the stylus pro uses AAA batteres. Way more plentiful and easy to replace since they have them everywhere. All products have their downsides. Here are some things that I've noticed through my time using Streamlight flashlights:-Clip is easy to break. It catches on my coat and seat whenever I climb in and out. It bent itself open and no longer fits in my pocket securely (mostly my fault though).-It will rip holes in your jeans. the bezel of the flashlight tip is actually pretty sharp and so far has ruined two of my pockets. If you carry this flashlight keep it in a cloth sheath or put it in a pocket where it is not stretching your jeans.Would highly recommend this or the Stylus Pro. It will fulfill your duties if all you need is something that is brighter than your phone flashlight.

Initially, I wasn't impressed with this flashlight. The lumens are low and the light was significantly smaller than anticipated. With carrying the flashlight for a few weeks now, I have changed my mind. The slim, and sleek design make carrying the flashlight a breeze, almost like it isn't even there. I also appreciate the fact that it runs off a AAA battery that can be easily replaced. I've added this to my EDC and its become an favorite. Although the lumens weren't what I was expecting, the light is bright enough for any of my needs. It doesn't have any different light settings but I don't different light settings are necessary for the periodic use it will get. The clip is nice and strong which retains it deep in my pocket all day long. The build is quality aluminum and has a strong button push at the end. No way this thing is coming on by accident. All in all, this light has grown on my and I'm impressed with the size and quality build.
