These are hard to buy online, as you are not sure if they will be too tight, or too loose. I went with this brand because they showed a lot of examples of fit. I did spend time checking the size chart and measuring my daughter. I am very happy with the fit. They are perfect. Good elasticity.

Perfect fit (ordered my 9yr old daughter her usual pant size, 8 medium) length is perfect, doesn’t ride up, looks great! Stays comfortable while playing volleyball all day.

Writing this just to help others. My daughter is a very small 7 year old. From other reviewers, I thought I should order up a tad so got her a medium. I'm trying to shrink them to make them tight. If your child leans on the side of wearing smaller sizes, go with your gut and order small.

Cute and fit well for cheer. My daughter is between an 8 and 10 and the 8 fits perfect.I’ll probably buy a couple 10s to keep for next season.

I really wanted my daughter to like these slightly more modest made-in-USA booty shorts, but she put them on and immediately rejected them in favor of Capezio's boy cut low rise shorts because she said the fabric of the Capezio shorts was much more comfortable. She didn't even want to keep them as back up shorts.
