Caveats:a) As stated by others it does NOT have "12 quality stainless steel ball bearings" or "12+1" ball bearings (as in 13, but rather "12 [sleeve] bearings + 1 ball bearing";b) It does not have an "instant stop one-way anti-reverse bearing" (implying a one-way clutch), but rather a "stepped" pawl and ratchet system--the system is silent;Nonetheless it is--at least for now, still new-- a well-balanced, budget priced, and smooth operating compact reel, a bit too small for my fat arthritic swollen knuckles. No literature is included, however the box labeling claims it to be constructed of "corrosion resistant TITAN graphite", this bourne out when held by it's feel the in the hand (heat dissipation, weight, resilience, etc.)The the pinion is brass and the spool is machined aluminum as claimed; The handle on the SY1000 model has a very simple single pivot point folding mechanism that seems more robust than the more complex design used on the 3000 series model. The line spools nicely; I used 10 lb. Spiderwire EZ (0.18 mm dia.) and it nicely holds 150+ metres of same.Ii is nice looking, appearing more expensive than it is. I like it, for the $$ it is hard to beat.Recommended...

I purchased this for my son he's 11. He was able to attach it to his fishing rod and use it the next weekend and catch a lot of fish. If an 11-year-old can do it, it is a great buy, cheap and affordable, but not cheap. Product works very well!!!

Work flawlessly. Caught lots of fish with no hassles at all with the real. One time the line got wrapped up around the drag knob. But it was my fault not the reals I just bought another one. I was catching eight to 14 lb fish on it with no problems

I purchased these because they were a great value. This reel did end up breaking due to poor quality materials used when building. However the drag was good, it was smoothe reeling, casting was OK, cool lookin and simple to use. It just didn't hold up very long. I'd recommend spending a little more money and getting a reel that will last

So I was using this reel when I hooked into something a bit bigger than my rod could handle. the reel handled it great, but the rod I had it on... not so much. the rod snapped right in half like it was a twig! But that reel held out. I was holding nothing but the rod by the time I landed that fish! HAHAHA! Turned out to be a 20lb pike! so for a "lightweight" reel, I'd say this thing is great!

Look elswhere for a fishing reel. I know the price is intriguing, but it will break in a day. Very very pour quality. It has horrible drag, very pour reeling action, and it takes 10 business days to reel in your bait.
