Very nice gadget, and surprisingly accurate. As a retired pilot, I am always interested in elevation when traveling by road, through mountain passes, down to the coast, etc. Sure, GPS gives that too, but barometric elevation gives a different angle. Love it.

Wife really likes that I have it on our truck dash right in front of her for easy viewing. It seems to work very well at what it does. The key is to know the elevation of your house so that you can adjust it to that in the driveway and then should be good for at least a few hours depending on weather changes. No batteries to die make this a handy altimeter.

After reading the directions I set the device to my known altitude and took a drive to the mountains, the device measured the altitude accurately. I like that it doesn't a require a power source. I mounted it on my dash but I discovered in high temperatures (95+) the plastic mount, while staying stuck to the dash, did not grip the pivot pin tightly and the device tended to flop over. Hopefully in cooler weather it will tighten up again.

Altimeters are not accurate unless you can select the barometric pressure. This one has an easily adjustable barometric compensation, which then ensures the accuracy of the altimeter. This is exactly the same procedure used by pilots..."set the barometer, then read your altitude". Most budget altimeters don't have a way to adjust the pressure reading, so this one is an affordable exception. We live at 8,800 feet in the Rockies and after unboxing the unit, I set the barometric pressure and the altitude was exactly(!) 8,800 feet. The altimeter does have an extra calibration adjustment on the back that's hidden until you slide out the round instrument from the plastic holder. I never had to adjust it. The holder comes with a couple strips of stick-backed Velcro® and has a friction hinge that seems to be tight enough to hold up to most bumps in your vehicle. The one drawback others have noted is that the dial is a little hard to read, as the markings and numbers are kind of a light font. Otherwise, recommended.

It was fun to use. As we traveled through and around Arizona, we found that it indeed was very accurate. From the altitude of around 8,000 ft. To the lower 3000 ft. Range. There were times when I might catch out of the corner of my eye, a sign stating the attitude. I would check with my new toy. It was right on.

I am enjoying having this in my car so that I can tell what the elevation is when I'm driving. It is easy to adjust and re-calibrate and once set stays accurate. My only complaint is that at night it is impossible to read. It would be great if it had that "glow-in-the-dark" stuff at 1000 feet intervals for night reading.

This is an excellent, well made product that does exactly what it is supposed to do. It is easy to set, read and use in a variety of situations. We love using ours on car trips in the mountains.

Worked well on holiday in Europe. A mountain pass marked as 2030 metres. showed as just over 2000 metres on the altimeter. That's pretty darn accurate for a £60 piece of equipment. For real accuracy the device should be adjusted daily; had we had a low pressure storm forecast we would have adjusted the device, in practice we rarely needed to fiddle with it, occasionally readjusting when at sea level.A fascinated gadget, we found it revealing to discover high altitude villages and roads that would have gone unremarked previously. The altimeter is now a permanent fixture on the car dashboard. Excellent value.

worked well on our trip to California and back up the west coast. Lots of fun trying to guess what altitude we were at...we got pretty good at it LOL

Great piece of kit. Works well, it’s accurate an easy to read when mounted on the dash. I use it to check altitude, when driving to ski sites and, to assist in weather forecast.
