I have a latemodel 5th gen 4Runner, purchased new. It isn't driven very often: after two years, it has amassed a whopping 3000 miles :) Great vehicle for me, but unfortunately, the telematics on this vehicle (SOS button, auto dial in the event of a serious crash, etc.) pre-dispose it to parasitic battery drain. This is a common problem for these vehicles if driven infrequently, a Toyota problem; my 15 yr old Ford P/U has similar telematic features but cranks without fail, even though it gets the same intermittent use. After replacing the battery twice on a virtually new car, I tried this solar charger. I've had it going on three months now. I leave it connected to the terminals and disconnect it quickly, using the quick disconnect lead included by the manufacturer. It stores easily in the seat pocket behind the driver seat. Compact, weatherproof and durable with nothing to switch on/off, it comes with an led indicator to show what it's doing once connected.Blinking green shows 'ready' and blinking red indicates current is flowing to the battery. Circuitry prevents over charging. As simple as that to use.I monitor the charging performance and battery state using an Ancel BM300 Bluetooth Battery Monitor ($35 on Amazon) which sends info to my cell phone at designated intervals or on demand. The battery is always topped off and ready to go. Problem solved. The Amazon listing shows suction cups that permit sticking the panel to a suitable surface while in use. I didn't receive suction cups with my charger (an omission, I believe) but that's not a problem. I affixed four coin-sized magnets to the reverse side which secures it to the hood or roof when in my driveway. If using it in a less secure location, I would keep it inside the vehicle, flat on the dash. The harness has a generous length, making routing to different spots simple.Would I purchase this again? Yes. 5 stars for simplicity, performance and ease of use.

I used to have to start my small car twice a day in the bitter cold, just to charge up the battery, and sometimes I had to jump it. I bought the 10W version. In hindsight, I wish I bought the 12W, but the 10W works fine. I rigged up a dashboard holder using Styrofoam and cardboard, and connected it to the car's OBDII port with this adapter: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007KJ2RZK.I park outside, where the panel gets about three hours of direct sunlight and a few more hours of ambient light. I let the car sit for a couple of days in below-zero temperatures and it started! No more dead batteries in the winter!

So, I have the 12W/12V one. First, it comes with plenty of connection styles. So that is a plus. I have a battery on my utility trailer which runs the electric jack. I use this so I do not have to hook it to truck all the time. Love it. It charged the battery from dead dead and it now keeps it sustained. I did not permanently mount it so I can take it down easilyNow the bad. The battery has the SAE connector for ease of connections. (to avoid reading the rest I will put a note here and tell you the connectors on the solar panel wires are reversed.. read on if you need an explanation)... As does this solar charger. So, there is no way to hook it up wrong. And the battery is hooked up correctly (red to positive/black to ground) . Having said that I hooked the solar panel (supplied with the panel) SAE connector and the LED light on the solar panel LED blinked weird. So I looked up the code on the Solar panel instructions and it says it was reverse polarity. Again, I can not hook it up wrong. So, I had to use the alligator clips (and reverse the clips on battery) to get it to charge. Works great now but I cannot use the SAE connectors as it is backwards. Weird. Minor inconvenience but it should be mentioned.

I have two of these 12 watt 12 volt solar charger / maintainers. One I've had for over a year and used for a pontoon boat battery so it only is used during the 5-6 month boating season in Michigan. The second I just bought in July for a PWC battery. I love how well built they are. The status LED can tell you if it's charging, open circuited, incorrect polarity, shorted or fully charged (the LED is on the front of the unit so it's readily readable). It requires minimal exposure to outdoor lighting to operate, even charging a small amount in fully overcast conditions. I've used my volt meter in amp mode to measure current output under various lighting conditions and it works at least as well as advertised, if not better. The biggest reason I felt compelled to write this review is that about two weeks after receiving my second panel (bought in July 2023), the unit quit working reliably. It would work for awhile then quit (LED went blank even in direct sunlight) then mysteriously it would start working again . I contacted the company and they asked me to send a video showing the LED not working while the panel was in direct sunlight. Once they received and confirmed, they sent a new unit to me directly from Amazon without me having to send the old unit back. In all it took about four days from contacting the company to receiving the new panel. This company deserves our business from both a product quality and company support perspective. The new panel I received is working very well so far and the panel I've owned for a year has worked flawlessly since purchasing in July of 2022.

Using to keep our generator battery charged. Working well as needing to run the generator at the moment.

Was skeptical at first due to not sure of true MPPT charger, but turns out to be true mppt charger. The only thing I wish it came with is cable adapter to OBD2 connector. This is important as most cars, only the obd2 connector is operational even the ignition key is off.Only four stars as I have to make my own obd2 cable to be able to charge the car internally, even with ignition power is off.
