I used this brand and model vacuum gauge in my HVAC course and i absolutely love the simplicity and durability of it.

I bought this meter so I could tell the state of evacuation on a rooftop unit, while still on the ground, using the colored lights on the display. This is NOT a precision instrument, and all measurements vary as you use the battery. This thing must CONSTANTLY be recalibrated, and readings change as the battery is used up.Reason for problem; Manufacturer tried to save a few penies by leaving out a critical voltage regulator. This unit does not have an internal voltage regulator. As the battery voltage goes down, the voltage across the sensor decreases, which makes the displayed vacuum appear to also decrease. For instance, I installed a new alkaline battery in my brand new unit. The VG60 vacuum gauge read 5000 microns when I turned it on. I calibrated the Supco VG60 according to the directions (good luck finding a jewler's screw driver among your tools). I then did a 10 hour evac job on an A/C system. Atthe end of the first hour, the VGG0 read 1500 microns. At the end of 3 hours, the VG60 read 700 microns. At the end of 5 hours, the VG60 read 1500 microns. At the end of 8 hours, the VG60 read 5000 microns. My digital Yellow Jacket meter was reading around 200 microns. I reclibrated the VG60 AGAIN, and put it back in line. This time it read 1000 microns, while the Yellow Jacket still read around 200 microns. If you do not leave this unit on continually, it might hold calibration (barring temperature changes). But for real-world use, get something else if you need accuracy. The Supco VP60 Vacuum Gauge read 700 microns at the end of 10 hours, while the Yellow Jacket read 200. I measured the 9 volt battery in the VP60, and found it to be reading 7.8 volts. I put a new battery in, and turned the VP60 on. With atmospheric pressure, and no hoses connected, the Supco VP60 now read 400 microns. This thing cannot be trusted.

I bought one of these gauges and only used it three times before it failed. I was very careful to use it as directed and cleaned it thoroughly after each use. This last time I tried it, the " atmosphere " light lit briefly before going out. I suspected maybe the battery was low so I replaced it with a new one. Still the same problem. So I contacted " support " at the Supco website by email explaining my problem. After a couple weeks with no response, I wrote again. More weeks with no reply. I have to believe the manufacturer knows this is a troublesome gauge and has not interest in providing customer service for it.I would strongly advise that nobody purchase this poorly-made instrument. This is a followup to my previous review. I have removed the words " miserable customer service " from the title. Nearly a month after my original email requesting support for my vacuum gauge, I got a response offering me a replacement for my defective one. It came today as promised. I'm hoping it works better than the first one. So, rather than the customer service being " miserable " I'd have to call it slow to respond. I'll test my new gauge and get back with the results.Sorry it has take me so long to report the results of the test of my new gauge. As it turned out, there was nothing wrong with the gauge. The problem with my test was that there was a leaky fitting on my vacuum pump. My mistake.

Wow, have the quality standards dropped at Supco. Door compartment clips broke off during first use. The connectors for the nine-volt battery are so flimsy you need to keep tightening then with pliers.

Did not work properly out of the box. Tried another vacuum gauge that worked well. Returned
