The different materials are used for different reasons, the clear yellow rubber mat is good to use for hole punching, stamping, and cutting. The white is a solid poly, good for punching or cutting. The gray mat is for placing under your other mats for reducing the noise made from hammering your chisels and stamps.Installation/setup: Use as directed for leather crafting.Final thoughts: I have always just used a piece of granite countertop and a plastic cutting board under my tooling and punching. These will work much better as they are made for purpose. Not totally noise absorbing however the punching pads do keep my tools from getting dull

I use my dining room table as a work surface and some of my equipment is heavy the felt pad protects the table top from marring, and the vinyl pad saves my chisels and hole punches from dulling.

Bought these as I work in leather and needed a decent mat. The sound deadening one is definitely a bonus. These are good value and a good size for projects
