I used a lot of lenses. I have been doing freelance photography for 3 years and I think the Canon version is better even without the IS (VC). BUT the photo quality is INSANE! I love the colors and the quality it produces. DEFINITELY not for video, which is what I do for work now. It hunts A LOT. At first, I thought it was my 5MDIV but I recently switched to the EOS R and it still hunts a LOT. I'm going to switch to only native glass now.

I bought this lens to save some money as the Canon was expensive but after using it to photograph few events I realized that this was a huge mistake. For regular canon lens users the major issue would be the position of the focus ring and zoom ring, their position is switched! That's confusing if you are switching between lens. The zoom is so hard to turn, it didn't become smooth even after a lot of use. As the lens is already is heavy, not being able to zoom easily puts a lot of strain on your inner arm. If you are shooting events for hours, this will cause a lot of pain.I have no complaints about the performance, auto focus is great, images are sharp but if the lens is not comfortable to use then its just useless. You might save money on this lens but the discomfort is not worth it in the long run.

This is definitely worth the money! I had rented the canon, sigma and Tamron version of the 24-70 2.8 before purchasing and I actually preferred the Tamron version over all of them - and you can’t beat the price!

This lens is an absolute amazing thing to own. It has improved my photography A LOT. It’s a cheaper alternative to the canon lens and it’s image stabilized. I stopped this lens down to 1/15 of a second and still got amazing hand held images. If you’re on a budget and looking for a great lens this is the one!

This lens is tack sharp when not back-focusing. It has a problem with back focusing and because the motor is so quiet, you cant hear it doing it. That's my only issue with it.
