I'll be using this tool in setting leather stitches in my projects. It is a nice size to hold while working with the stitching and good and sharp. I look forward to using this for a lifetime.

It’s a lightweight scratch awl, but it sure scratches, and that’s all I need it to do. It is regala somewhat small, about 2†handle and 2†tip. It’s no $80 exotic tool, but you get exactly what you need at a good price.

A good sharp awl for leather but the shaft is loose in the handle. I will probably have to regulus it.

I usually take a few weeks to review a product to make sure the item is not really good at first, then terrible after a few days. I can with out a shadow of a doubt say this product is amazing! I have had many scratch awls in the past. I have owned this one before as well. Out of ALL the awls I have owned, in my opinion is this one is the BEST! is steel build, and extremely well crafted point is what sells me. It is one of the smalls points I have used. The handle is also a very comfortable fit paired with a rustic raw wood look makeing it add to the leather working Aesthetic. It has a very strait shaft stands out against all the competitors. Most other awls I have purchased have never been strait. Usually they are bent or twisted on the shaft. AWL and AWL I would give this tool a 10 out of 10!

I have also added a diamond stitch awl to the collection since this one. They both have been life savers when saddle stitching as well as marking leather to cut with this one.

Will this poke holes in leather? Probably. However, it’s very small. I bought it because the one it my starter set was also very small, but this is minimally larger as far as the handle goes. It will be returned as I don’t need two awls that are too small for my hand.

This little awl works very well for scratching patterns into the leather. It is very sharp and can pierce small holes if needed into the leather (as long as the leather isn't too thick). I am very happy with this purchase and the quality of the item is good. I would purchase it again if needed.

Pictures can be (very) deceptive: In the photo you tend to think this is a good, robust size & strong. In the flesh, it is really very small, delicate & fine. I am slightly concerned as to how strong it is going to be. I think it may be fine for thin leathers & woven fabrics etc but I don't think it is up to handling any thick leathers. It will still be a handy tool to have but I have to admit to being a bit disappointed when I saw it. Total length - 10.7cms. Blade/awl part is approx. 5.8cms long & approx. 2mm wide at thickest part. Wooden handle is approx. 2.6cms wide at the widest/most bulbous point. Hope this is of help to anyone else.

I am an amateur leather worker and woodworker I have made scratch awls 100 times better quality than this they have honestly dropped the ball with the build quality on this item despite being a Tandy supplied item expected so much more than this regret ever ordering it.Ah well more money down the drain definitely do not recomend.
