My daughter took tap and ballet classes when she was very young, and then took several years off from dance before she was cast in a theatre production that required her to "relearn" (and practice) several tap numbers. Because I am TERRIFIED that she is going to tear up my hardwood floors with her tap shoes, I felt that a tap board would be an ideal solution for her.I am not a dancer, so I am by no means educated in what to look for in dance flooring, but my impression so far is that this board is very well-made. It's solid, and the grippies on the underside keep it very securely in place (both on top of hardwood flooring and carpet). It does not dampen a lot of the taps much, which - at least in our case - is a really good thing so that my daughter can work on perfecting individual steps and not "muddy" the sounds into one another. The board is also large enough that she can safely dance without much risk of falling off, but it's still thin enough to fit against a wall behind a door for storage.I feel like this is something that my daughter will be able to use for many years to come as she continues to explore musical productions.

The listing seems to use “wood edge banding design†as a selling feature. That really means “this is made out of a sheet of plywood!â€Mine arrived chipped on the edge and quickly got scraped on the soft plywood surface. This isn’t like a hardwood dance floor. But it does help keep house floors safer, so that’s good! The padding underneath isn’t as thick as on another dance board I have that has a laminated top. So far I think I prefer the thicker padding - but this does help it not slip around on the floor that it’s on.I wouldn’t get it wet or use it in the garden (as advertised) unless the wood is sealed better first. It’s good for protecting the floors from occasional tap practice. I don’t think it’s hard enough wood to be a durable long term solution. Especially since mine arrived chipped on the edges already.

Great for practicing tap at home. My daughter is in competition dance and needs to be able to practice at home. Before I made her practice without her tap shoes, which is ok, but to be able to practice in her tap shoes is so much better. While this board is super simple in design, it is saving the hardwood floors and allowing her to practice effectively. The board is light and has a handle cut into the wood, which is great for my 8 year old to be able to pull it out and use herself without her needing help with it.

Whether the floors are carpeted, hard wood, tile or vinyl, this wooden tap dance floor is exactly what anyone learning tap needs to practice. It's light to carry but durable, easy to store, designed to protect the floor and easy on the feet.It seems smaller than the picture with the dancer would suggest or maybe I'm significantly bigger. Measure out 45" to decide if that's long enough for your purposes. It's fine for practicing the ball drop, heel dig, shuffle and time step, etc.

Durable, has a handle, not to large or small to take up too much of the room. A bit expensive but definitely great for our little tap dancer!
