About this item

  • UHMW Tape: manufactured with ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMW) film and aggressive permanent acrylic adhesive, this bonding tape minimizes friction and does not let materials stick to its surface
  • Applications: acrylic tape is ideal for dry and clean surfaces. It can be used on conveyors, bearings, and sliding surfaces as well as on chutes, hopper liners, wear pads, guide rails, tool tables, fences, furniture, and drawer slides/runners
  • Quick Assembly: translucent nylon tape creates a virtually invisible bond and guarantees smooth surface appearance. With its aggressive permanent acrylic adhesive, this high-bonding adhesive tape eliminates the need of drilling, screws, or extra labor
  • Special Feature: polyethylene tape protects surfaces from abrasion and creates a "slip plane" effect that maintains the contact without wear. Nylon tape reduces squeaks, rattles, and other noises that can occur due to the movement of adjacent parts
  • 3M Preferred Converter: TapeCase is a 3M Preferred Converter; 3M has partnered with TapeCase to make their products available in a larger assortment of sizes, so that customers can use the tape in a variety of applications.

TapeCase 423-10 UHMW Polyethylene Tape is a strong adhesive that bonds effectively with dry and clean surfaces. The adhesive tape is provided with anti-stick and low friction properties that create a slippery and protective surface, enabling ease of sliding and helping in dampening of sound caused by movement of adjacent parts. The exceptional strength and abrasion resistance of this tape provides a strong adhesion, eliminating the need of drilling, riveting, or other liquid adhesives. The bonding tape effectively adheres to surfaces like drawer slides, chute liners, wear pads, and guide rails.

A huge improvement for old drawers: simple and quick to apply. UHMW (Ultra High Molecular Weight) plastic is the slippery stuff used in cutting boards and throughout a variety of industries. In tape form, it is the perfect solution for old drawers that are hard to move.My sister has a 50's-era kitchen, and the drawers had become difficult to open fully – the wood of the drawers had created grooves in the cabinet frame over the years. We initially thought of using wax to lubricate them, but this tape had just about the perfect thickness to accommodate for the amount of wear. It is stiff, which is great for wood, and sticks quickly and securely. We put it on the drawers themselves, keeping the tape slightly back from the outside edge (it extended past the inside edge of the drawer sides, but that was not a problem and wasn't visible). On one well-used drawer near the stove, the grooves in the casing were extra deep. So we used two layers of this tape and it was perfect. But take note: as another reviewer mentioned, you don't want to use tape on both drawer and cabinet... the result will be worse than wood on wood. If you need two layers, put them both on the same unit – either drawer or cabinet (again, we went with the drawers). The results were perfect... not as smooth as ball bearings by any means, but definitely smooth. And a coat of wax may still help in this regard (we didn't try it because it didn't seem necessary). The real beauty of this fix is that it should last for decades, unlike wax. And it should end the groove-making aspect of wood on wood.Next up: we have some antique dressers that need the same attention. I have no doubt whatsoever that this will be the perfect solution

This works great. Like some other reviewers, my primary use for this is making wooden drawers fit better. I have four suggestions on how to make that work better:1 - Fix any drawer sliding problems first. By that, I mean make sure the draw is riding smoothly along the wooden rails on each side, against wood on the other side. If there are uneven portions, fix those first, by either sanding down, replacing, or filling in missing wood. Otherwise, even with the tape, you're not going to have smooth motion. The good news is, once the tape is in place, there should be almost zero wear, so you won't have to fix the drawers again.2- Take special care to fix any protruding nails or screws. Just as protruding nails will quickly wear wood, they will also wear the plastic tape. Either replace the wood, or grind down the nail heads, or fill above them.3 - Don't apply this to both sides. The lowest friction is going to be with UHMW tape on one side, and wood on the other. The friction from plastic to plastic will be higher. It's only low friction because almost nothing sticks to this plastic.4 - Apply the strips carefully, don't try to remove and re-apply. Most glues don't stick to UHMW. One side of this tape is specially treated so glue will stick to it, and they're probably using special glue, too. So clean and dry the area, and carefully apply the tape once and press down smoothly. That should let it stick well and for a long time.I don't have anything to do with this company or the tape, I've just used UHMW tape before, and wanted to pass on tips that I've picked up, as there aren't any instructions with this product. (I didn't expect any. This is really an industrial use type product.)

I built my own Biesemeyer style guide rails for my Craftsman 113.298843 table saw following AskWoodman’s DIY guide. I bought a VerySuperCool Tools T-square to use with my new guide rails, and moving the fence scuffed the spray enamel that I coated the guide rail with. This tape works great. I had hesitations because this tape is pretty thin at .01”; but when clamping the fence, the tape doesn’t deform and it provides some smooth movement. In the photos you can see the scuffs under the tape where my fence would scratch and deform the paint before I added the tape. The transparency could be a bit better but not a huge deal.

The tape works for my application, which was to line the inside of a motorcycle throttle grip to reduce its sloppy fit on the handlebar. The tape is nice and slick, but the Chinesium manufacturing process needs some tweaking. Apparently the 3/4 wide roll is sliced off a wider roll and the slicing went a bit higgledy piggledy. Not quite square in other words, so the tape width varies along its length. Didn't affect my application but it doesn't shout "quality". Still, the tape itself, and its adhesive, seem fine. 4 stars.

I was making a table saw sled but the slot was a little too wide for my hdpe miter bar that I had purchased. I put this tape on both sides and now it's just right with no play and slides well. It was just the right height.

I've used it as chafe protection between an aircraft cowling and the fuselage-- works well. I also used it to temporarily replace nylon bearings on a clothes dryer which worked as well. Handy stuff to have around.

Purchased this material to put on a woodworking hand plane "shooting" board to reduce the friction between the board and the metal plane body. It worked great! Reduced the effort to push the plane easily 50%.

This stuff was perfect for my application. Needed to eliminate a friction between two materials that when hot and dry accounted for some noise. Once I applied this tape all my issues were solved. Found this width to be easy to shape and contour versus a thicker version

fait très bien le travail, ajouté ce ruban sur une pièce de métal qui sert de guide dans un rail d’aluminium pour une porte de grange coulissante

I bought this tape looking for a friction reducer to use on some metal parts, It works well as advertised however under heavy friction and high temperatures there is a chance that the adhesive loses its effectiveness and will allow the UHMW tape to slide its self off.It can be a tad hard to peel off the backing from the tape if you cut pieces off one at a time.for heavy use, it's suggested to have the tape form around corners and edges out of friction areas to assist with holding the tape in position.Other than that it's a great product and I will definitely order again when I run low.

I used this as a keel protector on my boat. Its invisible and the adhesive sticks like crazy. So far, not even a nick in it. Beats the $100++ keel protectors, and at a fraction of the price.
