I use the K-2006 Taylor test kit. I have had excellent results using this test kit. If I take a sample to the pool store with their computer driven testing machine, the results of the tests will essentially be the same. I test once a day, so I go through about two containers of the powder per pool season. So, if the expiration date is 3-6 months out, that's fine. It will be gone by then. Why use two scoops? Because Taylor says that's what to use. Any water sample with free chlorine in it will turn pink with the first scoop. The test is based on using two scoops. Not 1 or 3. The reaction kinetics will be different depending on how much powder you put in. If you put in one scoop, the water will clear that much quicker when titrating. Fewer drops will mean lower level of FC. So, now you will be chlorinating your pool based on erroneous information. You have more chlorine than you think you have so you will be over-chlorinating if you go with the one scoop approach.Taylor is the industry gold standard for testing reagents and test procedures. Do what they say. I spend $500 to $800 a year of pool chemicals. The testing reagents are chump change in pool land. Follow Taylor's instructions. They know what they are doing.I have noticed the powder will turn gray as it gets older. It is taking on moisture and accuracy will suffer. Buy the 10gram container as you need it and use as fresh a test reagent as possible. Worry about how much you are spending on chlorine. Your time and energy is better spent there.

Ordered ti replace same chemical used for testing pool water. Like all the other stuff for pools, it’s not cheap. But it’s good,

I like replacing the kit sizes with the bigger amounts when needed. It’s absolutely more cost effective to do so. Item works as intended.

I put a heaping scoop of this stuff in for my chlorine tests and it lasts a good while. I bought this size to replace the old one in my Taylor kit that had run out, but only because the .25lb one I got was going to take a month to arrive. I wish this stuff came in a size between the two!

I live in Phoenix and have had a pool to take care of for 38 years. Taylor test kits and chemicals help me keep the pool in good condition - they're easy to use and provide reliable results.

The Taylor R-0870-I DPD Powder is good quality easy to use. My reduction of one star is because it was already 4 months into the 1 year shelf life (arrived Sept 2023, Expires May 2024).

I use this for both chlorine and bromine testing in my hot tub. I'm sure it would work equally well for a pool.

Been using this product for a while and it works well, but this order shows up and the product expires in less than 6 months. Should give you at least a years use or more . No good .
