It is really a valve to regulate pressure and not a pressure relief valve. It seems to work well to maintain a set pressure by bypassing excess flow.When the pressure increases to a point that is starts bypassing it will continue to bypass a much lower pressure. If continual bypass is workable for you then this is a good valve. If you want something that just releases excess pressure and then closes I don't think that this valve will work you you.
