Easy to install, works perfectly on a 2012 Honda Pilot. The directions are a little unclear so I'll break it down for you.First step; the fuse box under the hood (the one in the center of the engine compartment - it's sort of underneath the air intake but you shouldn't have to remove the air intake). Put the fuse into the empty slot marked "TRAILER".Next, open up your back hatch and fold down the rear seats. On the driver's side panel, there's a little panel marked "AUX" that you'll need to open using a flat head screwdriver. Inside is a white wiring harness that you'll plug one end of the included harness into. The other end of the harness will plug into the little black relay box, which you'll then slide right into a little metal plate already in that compartment. Close that panel back up.Next, lay down underneath the rear of the vehicle. Inside the rear bumper on the driver's side is a wiring harness. It has a gray safety cap on it - carefully remove this cap and plug in the wiring harness from your kit that has a T-plug connector on one end (the other end is the 4-wire hookup for the trailer). Make sure it snaps into place. Then use the included zip ties to secure that harness that the undercarriage (be sure not to attach it to any part of the exhaust) and run it towards the trailer hookup. That's it. You're done and it should work perfectly.

I've just completed installation of this trailer lighting harness on my 2013 Honda Pilot. First let me say I spent 30 years behind a desk in an office. I suppose I have some mechanical aptitude, but I am about as far from being a mechanic as you can be. I called Honda to see what the dealer had to assist me, they wanted $220 for a harness, not including tax or installation. Everything I seemed to find online was complicated, and included stuff for trailer brakes. I needed this to rent a small u-haul trailer once a year or so, and perhaps a trailer to take my lawn tractor to the dealer for maintenance. I sure didn't need trailer brakes, or $220 worth of stuff. This assembly was exactly what I needed. No splicing or other weirdness that had a risk of my screwing it up and shorting out the vehicles electrical system. It took 5 minutes to locate the plug behind the "aux fuse" cover, and plug it in. The little control module slid right on a bracket that was already in the truck...slick. As other reviewers have said, the biggest hassle, was trying to separate the plug protector from the plug under the rear bumper, driver's side. I finally had to use a pair of vice grips to get a decent hold on it, and then presto...it came loose. That wire assembly then plugged in quickly and was easy to route to the hitch where it dangles, but is hidden by the hitch cover when I'm not needing it. Finally, there is a large 30 amp fuse that goes into the fuse box under the hood. Took a minute or so to figure out which way was forward so I stuck the fuse in the right spot and I was done. Didn't really even get dirty.... I used a volt meter to make sure the plug was working and I was done. Really easy, and wow....I saved $150 buying this item on Amazon vs. going to the dealer.

This harness is exactly as described, ten minutes and I had trailer lights. When the directions state you need a flat head screw driver and that's it. That;s exactly what you get. Perfect

Bought this for my 2013 Honda Pilot. The kit came complete with everything I needed. Easy to install, and everything worked without any trouble shooting! Very happy with the ease and it saved me over $200 from getting it done at the dealership! Hardest part of installation is as many people have said, getting the protective cap off the vehicle wiring. The metal mounting bracket that you can buy is not the best. It doesn’t hold the connector well enough to just push the trailer wiring on. It will just push through, but it serves to keep the connector handy and keep it from dragging or dangling. More of a “holder” But the harness worked great!

While I know how to work on vehicles the installation was easy but the instructions were not the best. While, most of the wiring works the ground connector is bad, unfortunately this renders the running lights useless which means no driving trailers at night, nor does it allow for the electricity to work inside the trailer.Because running lights and any lights is one of the most important factors when towing a trailer I had to give this a 3 star. If all the wiring worked, would definitely change my rate a 5 star.
