About this item

  • Red Before Bed: Sleep training is easier with red light, and unlike other lights, our soft night light is tested and proven to only emit wavelengths that support the natural production of melatonin
  • Sound Machine & Night Light: This sleep machine soothes baby and toddlers with a soft red glow for natural melatonin production and a calming white noise machine to gently guide little ones to sleep
  • Based on Sleep Science: Co-developed with Dr. Sofia Axelrod, Sleep Scientist and author of How Babies Sleep, inspired by Nobel Prize winning research on the circadian clock and how light affects sleep
  • Good for All: Sunset Soother avoids disruptive blue light with 2 modes — Use Overnight mode for a softer bright light to stimulate your child or try Sunset mode with a slow fade to dark in 30 minutes
  • White Noise Machine: The integrated sound machine, with 3 volume settings, creates a calming womb-like environment and masks other sounds to help your baby fall asleep and stay asleep

Support natural melatonin production and make your sleep training journey easier with the Sunset Baby Soother from The First Years. Just think Red Before Bed and you’ll be on your way! The soother gently guides your baby to sleep the way Mother Nature intended, with a soft red light. Most nursery night lights and lamps increase alertness, but our red light has been tested and proven to only emit wavelengths with no disruptive blue light. Whether you’re creating the perfect nursery for your newborn, or looking to start sleep training, the Sunset Soother allows you to customize it for your family, from newborn to toddler. The included sound machine can be used either with or without the nightlight, for white noise that creates a womb-like environment and masks other sounds to help your newborn fall asleep and stay asleep. The nightlight can be set to stay on all night, letting you avoid the bright lights that stimulate both you and baby during middle-of-night changes and feedings. Choosing sunset mode provides a slowly fading light that leaves the room dark after thirty minutes. It can help your baby settle and is great for a sleep training routine. Toddler asking for a nightlight? Overnight mode gives the light they want without blocking the production of melatonin. Through each stage, Red Before Bed and the Sunset Soother are here to help. And it’s all based in sleep science. Sleep scientist Dr. Sofia Axelrod, co-developer of the soother, was inspired by Nobel Prize-winning research on the circadian clock and how light affects our ability to fall asleep. Blue light is nature’s way of waking us up. It’s emitted by most nursery nightlights, even if the color may not look blue. This type of light resets our body clock and increases alertness while also suppressing the sleep hormone melatonin. Our soother’s light, on the other hand, supports the natural production of melatonin. That’s why it’s the right choice for your baby. And when baby sleeps, you sleep too!

This was amazing. We were considering the Hatch but went with this one instead to save a few bucks. So glad we did. The white noise sounds like any other sound machine and has three settings, lower medium and high. The volume is enough to cover all of the other sounds we make throughout the house and our toddlers don’t wake up from the noise. The lighting is also perfect, because it doesn’t wake them up if they kind of wake up in the middle of the night; it’s easy for them to go back to sleep whereas the white nightlight we had before would send them into our room crying. The light also has three settings but even the brightest setting is really soft and calming. It also has a setting to turn off the light after 30min or keep it on all night. We love it. Highly recommend.

I really enjoy the red light in this and it’s easy to use. However, the highest level of sound is very low compared to other sound machines I’ve tried.

Compre esta lampara porque esperaba a mi bebe, ha nacido hace 1 mes y la hemos usado a diario pero de un momento para otro ha dejado de funcionar el ruido blanco, se apaga y debemos golpear suavemente el microfono para que suene de nuevo.

This was a baby shower present. We're told that it has the desired effect and helps our grandchild fall asleep and stay asleep, just what new sleep deprived parents need. Would buy again.

I use this every night. It is the perfect nightlight for nursing during the night, gives off just enough light that I can see, but not enough that it wakes the baby up. The sound machine part has 3 levels of noise which I appreciate.

I thought the idea was a bit strange, especially the red light, but I would try anything to help our toddler sleep. The noise seems to keep ambient noises from disturbing her and she loves the red light. The light allows you to check on baby without harsh light in their face. This skeptic is satisfied.
