This bell makes a loud and clear ring. (Loud and clear unlike cast iron bells, which look nice but don't ring loud enough to be a door bell) It's been mounted in Maine for a year and aside from natural weathering, it looks lovely. You could probably polish it you like, but if you like patinas, don't bother. The mounting is sturdy, graceful and narrow enough to fit on any door jamb. The braided rope stands up to weather, looking new despite a Maine winter.This will make a lovely gift!

I have shopped endlessly for an outside bell loud enough to call in the dogs from the rather large back yard. This is it. I have had it for a couple of months now and it has stood up to the weather and south sun exposure perfectly. The tone of the bell is loud, but nice sounding. Just perfect for calling in the kids (or dogs!) for dinner. It is really a nice looking bell as well. I would recommend.

It’s a really beautiful bill and is very good quality. It has a real nice ring that travels far. The only problem I have with it is there are two small nuts on either end of the bolt that holds the mounting bracket and one of them worked it’s way loose within the first week of ringing it. I have a missing cat so I have been ringing it a lot. It fell off and is lost now. I tried to contact the manufacturer to have them send me just the nut, as I do not want to go through the hassle of returning the entire bell and then not having a bell to ring while I wait for another bell. I emailed to see if this nut could be sent, but I got an email back stating to reach out to Amazon for a return. It seems to be a costly method to get me a simple nut! I emailed back again and I am waiting to hear if a nut can be sent out to me. Much cheaper than doing a return of the entire bell and sending me another bell. Those nuts should be screwed on tighter so they don’t come off right away. I hope they will be able to just send me out this nut and I can be done with it. Other than that, I love the bell. I tested it with a refrigerator magnet and it is solid brass.

It really should have lock nuts holding the bell to the mount. The other day I went outside and a nut was missing. They always come loose on their own.

Love this dinner bell. Timeless ring, nice antique look, easy to install and use. Solid metal, this will probably last longer than me. Kids come running from within a few hundred feet whenever we ring it. The neighbors smile.

Nice looking bell but it failed in its intended purchase objective which was for my wife to call me in from our long garden at lunchtimes etc. She is always complaining that I do not hear the bell. I am going a bit deaf that's why we got it but it has failed.

My friends use it as a signaling device between the cottage and the wharf which is far away.It hasn't got a patina yet but I'm sure it will after a few winters.
