About Brasstache

Brasstache was created to goof things up. As a company made up of Chicago musicians, we know learning an instrument is as challenging as it is rewarding. We believe having as much fun along the way should be part of that journey!

I bought these in both the small size and the larger size to see which would work better in my studio. I "stress-tested" each one, pouring quite a bit of water into it to see if it would leak through. Neither the small Spit Catcher nor the large Spit Catcher leaked at all.The small size is extremely compact and rolls up into a small little bundle which is easily transported in any brass instrument case. The large one makes a slightly larger bundle when rolled, but is still of a size that would fit in pretty much any case. For me, I think that the larger is a better option for most brass instruments. The small one is only about the size of a standard US letter-sized piece of paper. That can be a challenge to hit if you're emptying water in the middle of a piece. I think trombonists, because of the proximity to the floor of their water keys, would have better luck with successfully hitting the "original" sized one (small) than would other brass instruments.I'm very pleased with this purchase and bought 2 more subsequently, so now I have 2 in my studio (one for me and one for the student) and one to go in my gig bag.

I had no idea such an item existed, but after receiving one for my birthday I find it to be an essential part of my trumpet equipment. It is unobtrusive but does exactly what it needs to do ... keep floors and rugs clean and free from unhealthy spit. Easy to use, easy to clean, and easy to travel with.

The perfect solution to preventing unsightly puddles of water on the floor from the discharge that accumulates from your horn and is released by pressing the lever on your horn water key. Each of these pads will hold moisture efficiently and they work very well. They can be laundered and air dry quickly. I travel with one or two pads putting them in a gallon zip loc bag and stowing them in my gig bag. What A great design idea. Try them and see what you think.

This is an excellent product, especially now when we are all trying to do a better job keeping germs to ourselves. The towel is thin enough to not be too noticeable, but is still very absorbent. At the end of rehearsal, the floor under the towel is completely dry and I can just roll the towel up and into itself to store it safely until I do laundry. I think I might get the larger size to have a bigger target.

I guess I felt like maybe buying a rag would make me feel like a better trumpet player. It ended up not really improving my playing. But it is a more sanitary and neat place to drain the moisture from my horn while playing rather than the floor or a rug or something. Not moldy or stinky or anything. Works great.

Catches spit! Very absorbant, just slurps it right in. It makes playing the french horn more socially acceptable.

Using this in rehearsals weekly...MUCH better than taking a hand towel or trying to find paper towels to soak up extra condensation that comes out of my spit valve. SO convenient to just roll it up and fold away in the case...it will dry before the next time you open the case. LOVE this!!! I have two Horns...and bought one for each case.

Solves the problem of having to wipe up the floor after practice. Just toss in the wash every so often to clean it, very handy.
