I've been wanting to find a way to balance my own vehicle wheels for some time. The wait in line, cost and inconvenience to go to a local tire shop just isn't pleasant for me. I had decided to buy a regular electronic wheel balancing machine for about 1000 dollars but at only 60 this product seemed worth a shot.To be perfectly honest I expected it not to work and fully expected I'd be returning it. Anyway, I had a severe out of balance on the front of my older Dodge Caravan. It was bad enough to cause my windshield mounted radar detector to bounce up and down about an inch. Also the steering wheel was shaking back and forth in my hands to the point it was not comfortable. But I needed the vehicle for a road trip so I had to either try this or endure the local tire shop ordeal.I received the balancer and put it together. Easier than I expected. Then I placed on my garage floor and adjusted the three little screws around the balance bubble until it was a much centered as I could get it. Note that it's a very tiny bubble and I had to use a light and magnifying glasses to see it clear enough to get it as centered as possible. That part is not as easy because it's such a small bubble and we're talking about a very small amount of movement. anyway, I got it as close as I possibly could.Next I placed the first wheel from my Caravan on the balancer. I didn't even remove the old weights. I could see that the bubble was no longer in the center so I laid weights on the side that that the bubble had moved towards one by one until the bubble got back dead center as close as I could tell. I used clip on weights also bought off Amazon and attached the weights to the wheel. I thought to myself it's kind of a shot in the dark and I won't be surprised at all if the wheel balance is worse when I road test it. I went ahead and did the other wheel. Both wheels took about 2 ounces of weights to get the bubble centered.I went ahead and put both wheels back on the vehicle so I could do a road test. My expectations were low but I was hoping that the out of balance was at least a little better so that I could make my trip without all the vibration and steering wheel movement. I got on a long straight empty road (I live out in the country so that's easy) and did a test all the way up to 80mph.To put it mildly I was surprised at the results. In all honesty, I can tell you that the radar detector was no longer bouncing up and down and the steering wheel was smooth as silk. I would go so far as to say the balance felt as good or better than any shop machine balance I can recall. Believe me when I tell you this came as a pleasant surprise. I had expected (or at least hoped for) some improvement so that I could comfortable use the vehicle but I did not expect the balance to be perfect.I didn't do any tuning to the balancer at all. Just used it out of the box. Now I'm probably not going to buy the 1000 dollar balancing machine. This was the first time I used this balancer so I'll see if I get similar results on other cars as I balance other wheels. I may come back with an update at some point.I would highly recommend this balancer but if your vision is not really good, wear magnifiers like I did to see the bubble clear. I did not receive this free. I paid full price like you. I'm pretty sure that if it worked for me, a random buyer, then there's a good chance you could also get good results like I did. This so far is one of the best purchases I've made in a long time since it will let me keep my car wheels in balance with the hassle and expense of going to a tire shop. The price to get wheels balanced at a shop seems to keep going up. Good luck and I hope it works as well for you as it did for me.

For the price and half and half of good reviews wanted to give it a try. It works just need to keep it clean and maintain and not damage the pivot pin. It looks like a harbor friegt clone but u do see that the inside is more drilled than the old harbor frieght. The new version of harbor freight mentions it imoroved but havent seen it.

Balanced my winter tires using this & had no issues with shake or wobble due to imbalanced tires. It also has enough room to prop your phone on the top so you can use a digital bubble level for extra-precise balancing.
