I feel like this clip is more appropriate for a multi tool or even a vape than for a phone. Once attached to the case, it exposes your phone screen to the world. The adhesive does work pretty well but I don't trust it for my phone.

Great clip for phone, wallet, pocket knife, or whatever else you can think of putting it onto. The 3M tape is super sticky. So much so that I had to slightly mangle it to get the backing off and apply it to my phone case. I would not recommend applying it directly to a phone back. I ended up having to use a pair of tweezers to remove the backing to expose the sticky side. The clip itself is some solid and heavy metal. Actually, I don't care much for the weight (0.42oz) of it and will most likely eventually switch back to a different non-metal alternative. But it's strong and reliable if that's not an issue for you.

I needed to attach a couple of small LED lights to my vest and these clips did the trick perfectly. For small, light objects the adhesive is more than sufficient to handle it. After two days of being stuck to the lamp, I tried to pull the clip off just to test the adhesive, and it wouldn't budge. In fact the back of the light was more likely to bend and snap off before the adhesive. I'd therefore say this adhesive can handle the weight of a phone quite easily but I would stick it to a case and not directly to your phone as it might be a pain to scrape off.
