I have been using this tool for over 30 years! Best sander, easy to use. Buy the Velcro’s sand paper attachment, makes life really easy. My previous tool finally wore out.. after 15 or so years. A real workhorse. Great but.

This will STRIP paint off of WOOD (60 grit metal disk - or even 120 due to such fast speed.) FAST! Use a delicate touch and you'll be amazed how this little light tool running so FAST ... is better than a big heavy Belt Sander using 40 grit. Both will gouge easily, so must be intelligently used, but this will blow you away for FAST removal of base material. You can then flatten and remove any circular scarring with a belt sander using 120 grit, etc. FAST! (CAREFUL- it's easy to cut yourself badly with the extreem speed and rigidity of the metal sanding disk you can likely buy at welding supply for the best quality disk. And ... they're cheap and last a LONG time, as opposed to disc made for wood.

It worked well for what I used it for. I gave it 4 stars because it’s under powered, it’ll stop if you put too much pressure on it. Consequentially it’s slow to remove material

I bought this sander as a replacement. I was familiar with the brand and model. It is lightweight, easy to use, and durable. Great tool to have in the tool box.

I purchased a dewalt for half the price and both worked great. The Makita seems better quality and I like the lower position on the disc as compared to the dewalt. Though it was double the price and much cheaper elsewhere it is discontinued and could no longer get it anywhere else except on Amazon. I use both tools on restoring decks and they work well for removing coats of paint, stain and even weathered wood. The wood becomes like a new board and then can put new stain over it. You can use an angle grinder with a sanding disc but they are very aggressive, these tools are better speeds to achieve a better finish

This Makita disc sander is a perfect match of power and lightness. Very easy to use with two hands and even single handed for short periods.An amazing amount of sanding can be done with one disc before it wears out. It is much more economical than a belt sander.This is the perfect tool for decks, wood siding, picnic tables and anything needing EFFICIENT sanding of a large area.Yes it leaves sanding circles, but this tool is NOT for fine furniture, it's to get a HUGE amount of sanding done VERY efficiently. Once paint or stain goes on, the sanding circles are un-noticeable..
