This is not auto start at all, it’s just a regular torque ball.

I read the instructions, watched the videos, and tried multiple times to make this thing work without success. My son finally figured it out. You have to turn the orb toward the arrows past the point of feeling resistance. But none of us really felt any difference in using this. It only lasts for a minute and the led lights are rather underwhelming. We were going to give this as a gift, but bailed on that once we tried it. My son is still trying to figure out if there is some trick to it that we're just missing, but I don't think so based on the videos I've seen.

Gyro balls have come a long way since I got my first one 20 years ago and I am impressed with the new features. They can be tricky to get going but this one has a spring mounted start that lets you wind it up, then let go and it starts it up. The LED's can also get dazzlingly bright if you get it going fast enough. Between the light and the sound it brings out the inner kid in me and I can imagine I'm holding a fireball in my hands. The wrist strap is optional and I chose not to use it so that I can swap hands faster. For a workout device, it doesn't disappoint. I have wrist rollers, and one of those big rubber noodles you twist, and the gyroball can give my forearms an equal workout and it happens to be a lot more fun to do. It can also be done one handed unlike the others, so I can get a workout in while browsing the web and doing other things.

Not impressed. Instructions are very confusing.

Maybe I got a broken one. Maybe it's just junk. Hard to tell. This ball has a wheel that you have to rotate to gather torque. Then you let it go and it's supposed to light up and spin, creating a gyro effect. Well, it certainly doesn't light up. And the wheel spins around a little before coming to a stop. No gyro effect. The only exercise I got was from my thumbs rotating the wheel, trying to generate some torque. Sometimes I get products and wonder who would ever market this thing. This is one of them.

I don't know about the exercise claims, but this is a fun toy. I had to watch some videos on how to get it started since the included instructions were in Chinese. I docked it a star, because mine already has creaks and rattles, calling into question its durability.
