Agree with some viewers that the board comes in rough so I took some 400 grit sandpaper and sanded it down wet it a little bit sanded it again and it’s smooth as a baby bottom this is a very nice quality item

I have been using a cookie sheet as an oven peel ever since I started buying those fully prepared but not cooked pizzas. That worked but was kind of clumsy. This oven peel caught my eye because it is attractive, made of a good solid hardwood, and is big enough for the pizzas I order. It works well. And it looks good hanging on the wall near my oven.I would give it 5 stars if the taper of its leading edge was more gradual. As it is, it takes a bit of a knack to get the peel fully under the pizza. I hope the designer and vendor will take this as a positive suggestion for version 2. As it is, it is not difficult to learn how to slip the peel under the pizza and it was not a problem for me even when I pushed the pizza around a bit getting the peel in place.I do like this peel and I do recommend it.PS: my wife likes it too. That is important!

I started making pizza’s a few months back and have a peel made of what looks like pine. So this Christmas I bought this peel for one of my DIL’s. When it came in I realized I wanted to upgrade my peel to this one and I would buy her another one. It’s beautiful and looks amazing hanging on my kitchen wall.

This is our second pizza peel and the material is cheap and the grain raises quickly causing bits of wood to interface with the dough. Look elsewhere for a hard wood instead.

Bought this as a gift for my daughter. First one arrived damaged, as it was shipped in a huge box with a lot of space and no padding/packaging. It had a 2†crack right in the middle of the curved area, and it could be seen/felt on both sides. Was beautiful though, so we exchanged it for a new one (very easy process, got it a day later). Opened the new one and it had a funky chemical smell. No biggie, it’s washable, right? Wrong. As soon as the water hit the surface, it looked like there was some sort of coating coming off, and a million little splinters started to raise up on both sides of the peel. Wiped it with the sponge and the sponge literally turned brown because of all of the splinters that were coming off and sticking to it. Flipped the sponge over and used the scrubby side, wiping along the grain hoping it would slough off all of the random bits, but no, more splinters were appearing as the old ones were being wiped off. Ultimately I gently wiped it down and let it air dry overnight. It’s now rough all over, and there are little tiny splinters sticking up, covering both sides! Considered sanding it down, but thought this might make it worse - and if so, I probably couldn’t return it. (Also - I’ve never seen a bamboo product produce splinters before?!) Sadly, I’ve just packed this one up and am off to the UPS drop off store for the 2nd time. Debated trying one more exchange because it really is pretty, but at this point I’m not convinced the 3rd one will be any better than the first two. 2 stars given because the shipping/packaging offers no protection from potential damages and bc of the strange splintering issue, but the return/exchange was easy (pending my final refund, that is…) and because both peels were really pretty. Also because I’m surprised all other reviews are largely positive, so my experience may just be an anomaly. the original peel didn’t have that funky smell, and I didn’t bother to wash it since it arrived with the large crack (clearly damage from shipping). But if you can’t wash it, it’s pretty much dysfunctional. Bamboo is not in my future, going to search for a new peel with a similar look, made of solid dependable wood!

Product seems to be well made but I haven't actually used it yet. I wanted a peel 13" wide to fit my toaster oven so I trimmed down the sides and reshaped the front lip to make it easier to get under the pizza. These things always have such blunt noses - i don't know why the manufacturers can't put a longer ramp on the top side. Would make it much easier to get under the pizza without shoving it off the stone or rack to the back of the oven.
