My 6yo and I just wore out our first cheap 3lb tumbler so I 'upgraded' to this one . Main reasons being it has slightly more capacity and has cheap available parts. A 1$ gasket wore out on the old one but you can't buy just the gasket they want you to replace the whole barrel assembly. With this one I checked the website and you can order replacement parts individually for cheap.Added bonus it is a little quieter than the last one. Still keep it in the garage but it's not super loud.Another added bonus is it came with 3lbs of what look like pretty neat little rocks. We have no shortage of rocks but it is neat that it comes with all the rocks and compounds you need to get going .Will update if anything changes but rn it seems nice to me. Basic beginner/kid rock tumbler.Update- Oct 2020. The tumbler broke after a few batches but at least parts are cheap I guess

My son (a geology major) loves this tumbler. He has had it running non-stop since he got it for his birthday in SeptemberThe only thing I would recommend is a small fan to evacuate the heat the motor produces. There is a small fan built into the drive shaft, and the housing has vent holes. The housing still gets rather warm. I installed a small computer fan onto the outside pulling the heat and the temperature has dropped significantly to the touch.

This thing is great. Just keep it lubed properly. I remove the shafts and use moly lube rather than plain oil. It is going over a year old and still going strong. We are now going for a bigger machine to do bigger rocks. We've learned much from this one.

+ It has only one speed and runs slowly - 40 spins per minute. It is gentler for fluorite, howlite, and other rocks with a lower Mohs hardness.- while it runs okay, it produces a lot of black rubber debris.- sometimes, I have to adjust the knobs on the left side to make the belt move.- it only lasts for four weeks.

My 14 year old so wanted a rock tumbler. Having no knowledge of this type of item prior, I was left to internet searches and reviews to make my decision.I am not disappointed in this product at all!It is a little noisy, however it is comparable to a white noise machine. I keep it in my office and with the door closed you can hardly hear it.My son on the other hand has been able to not only operate it, but thanks to the detailed instructions, complete each step on his own.We are thrilled with the results that we have achieved from a 1st time purchase.Everything needed for the 1st batch was included in the package we purchased.

I have done 3 batches of stone and 2 glass batches and the tumbler is working great. In the summer I took the plastic cover off so it won't over heat. I did have to bring it inside once winter hit- too cold it won't spin with all the lube in the world, but with warmer temps there is no problem. Easy to use and directions are nice especially when first starting out having the guidelines for how long to tumble. It's amazing to see what happens after a month of tumbling- if your into that thing it's worth it as a starter!

I like to wait until I have used an item for a period of time and then write the review as it gives a more accurate accounting for the item. I purchased this rock tumbler in March of 2020 and it is now close to one year since my purchase. I have had my tumbler going for basically one year non-stop and it is working just as it did when I first started. I have had to replace the Gasket Seal in the lid once in this past year. The barrel started to slip and not turn after several months of use as the drive shaft that the barrel sits on got polished itself and the barrel was slipping. I took some course emery cloth and roughed up the shaft and the barrel started to roll again. The weight limit suggested is too high and if you put in the suggested weight limit, the motor might over heat. All in all a good quality product that I am happy with
