What I found out is to use the baster by holding it straight up and up pulls up everything. I have plants plants I brought inside so the cold wouldnt kill them and the water goes right to the plant saucer so when it accumulates too much I use the baster to siphon it up and workd like a charm. Remember to hold the tube so that the bulb of the baster is at the bottom so it doesnt run out then squeeze out

I used this to water bromeliads, hanging orchid baskets, and hard to reach plants, as well as to suction out excess water from trays under plants. It was one of the best basters I have used--large enough to hold quite a lot of water, good suction, minimal dripping--but it got a crack in the bulb after about a month (a couple of days too late to return it). I used it a lot, and maybe it was not made for such frequent use, but it should still have lasted more than a month. I'm hoping the one I had was just a defective one. I ordered another one, and if it lasts, I will update this review to 5 stars.Well, it's now a year later and I am on my fourth one. So they last longer than my first one, but none lasted more than 6 months. A little disappointing that they don't last longer, but I use them constantly (I have over 100 plants) and they work super well, until they spring a leak. I love the large size; they really hold a lot.The problem is that they have a little navel-like spot on the top, which after a while, always starts letting in air and ruins the suction. But make my plant watering so much easier that I decided the best thing to do is just to keep replacing them; after all, they are not that expensive.

The baster tube split in half after one run through the dishwasher! Very poor quality. In addition, the bulb never had really good suction on the tube. It would suck liquid up fine sometimes, and other times be unable to pull anything up.

I’ve purchased many in the past and this is the best quality baster ever ! It’s sturdy , large , easy to clean & doesn’t squirt all over like others . Worth every penny !

I have a small 5.5 gallon fish tank and I had overstocked it with guppies because I didn’t know better. My filter also needed to be replaced and wasn’t working as great so you can imagine all the little fish poops on the substrate. This baster did a great job of cleaning those up and since it’s big, it can reach to the bottom and all the corners pretty easily. This is a great investment for nano tank owners to use in between water changes.
