Instructions:
1. BE careful when opening the Big, Tall monarch butterfly tents- after you slip off the elastic strap from around the circle, the cube cage can pop open unexpectedly so make sure you have plenty of space and no breakable objects close by.
2. After opening your net cage, the PVC side will be creased from folding. Get the creases out quickly by blow drying the PVC with a hair dryer for about 5 minutes, or place PVC toward warm sun to relax wrinkles.
3. Always close the cage door so the zippers meet at the TOP CENTER. If a caterpillar is somewhere on the zipper, this will allow you to zip down the other side to open.
4. Clean the mesh cage after a disease outbreak or at season's end by soaking it in a 5% bleach solution (19 parts water to 1 part bleach) for about 20 minutes. The cage can be soaked in a tub or laundry tub.
5. Rinse your butterfly garden with water and then let it sun dry- hang it on a clothesline or put a rock on the floor so it won't blow away.
6. When folding the cage for storage, place your hands on opposite upper corners of the cage and press one corner in to fold the cage flat.
7. Store the cage flat in a closet, under bed, behind a couch, etc..

I ordered caterpillars from a butterfly farm to give to friends and family in memory of my daughter. I ended up with 19 baby caterpillars at home. The caterpillars were soo extremely tiny! Putting them in this giant mesh cage felt silly. But I took the advice from a friend and ordered the cage. Made a little dish out of tinfoil for their food and watched them slowly move around the cage for weeks and weeks getting bigger and bigger! Finally they went to the top to chrysalis and it was then that I was glad I didn’t try to raise these caterpillars in jars or any other clever idea I might have come up with. Some of the chrysalis are finally producing butterflies! They were just born in the last two days so they aren’t flying around yet but when they do decide to fly around there’s plenty of room inside!I like that it had a zippered opening on both sides. And that the bottom is made of clear plastic which keeps the mess from the caterpillar poop and food inside the cage.As seen in the picture I had to keep mine up high because once my cat saw something moving in the cage she flipped it over about 4 times in the air 🥺Once I release the butterflies this cage easily folds up flat and can adult be stored anywhere. Definitely a must fot someone raising more than a couple caterpillars.

This is the third butterfly net/habitat I have purchased. I prefer this particular one due to the size as well as there are two large zip doors for access. My previous one only had a small zip opening on the side which made it hard to add water. The one with top opening was not easy to use as the caterpillars would attach chrysalis to the top. This made it difficult if one hatched before another one.

This is the perfect enclosure for our caterpillars. I really like the 2 door design, it's easy to clean, and the window is easy to see through.

Also purchased the Painted Lady cattipilers on Amazon and this tent served us well.Very sturdy and folds up easily for storing after you've let the butterfly's loose!! Great buy and the grandchildren learned a lot.

This habitat has a bit of a footprint, especially indoors. This enclosure allows you to bring in multiple cuttings to feed the caterpillars, and gives them plenty of overhead room to form their chrysalis. Great for the younger kids to experience the life cycle from egg to mature butterfly.

I absolutely recommend this two door habitat. Imo it's far more convenient than the single door. It's easier to clean especially if any of your caterpillars decide to molt on one door. We all know they shouldn't be disturbed during this process so the convince of two doors alleviates that anxiety. It's also a plus when releasing your butterflies. They can exit from either side. It's so much easier to move than the bigger one. This is my habitat of choice.
