The best way to describe this product is that it's like a miniature old school lead x-ray apron. Drape it over your winch cable and if the cable snaps, it will redirect most of the force into the ground instead of straight towards the vehicle. I really like how it's highly visible.

This can save your life! Put a couple scuba weights in the pockets and place it over your winch line or tow strap before pulling the stuck vehicle. It can save your life.

While dampers are not heavy per se, this one is almost a pound lighter than my other damper I purchased on Amazon. This one weighed 1 lb 10 oz. My other one weighs 2 lbs 6 oz. It also does not seem to be as well made. I will return this one and pay the $10 more and order a second one like the first one I have. Based on what I feel the quality is I can’t recommend this one.

Having seen several tow ropes slip or snap over the years finding out about these I found getting one a must. This is a nice materials and feels robust. The holds well, and the pockets can hold quite a bit of weight. I keep a few extra shackles in the truck and would throw them, or any spare tools there.It folds nice and flat so stores basically anywhere, and have some reflectors which is always good for visibility at night so nobody walks near the tow rope or can be used to get attention as a flag even as a second function.

Anybody who has a winch should have one of these if you ever think you'll need to recover someone else's or your own vehicle. If an accident happens and your cable or rope give way sending a backlash through the line these can re-route some of that energy and potentially keep. Definitely nice to have a storage pocket on it, but this is more to keep myself safe when pulling my rig out of the mud.
