On the plus side the unit looks good, is affordable, and feels very rugged. And it certainly worked out of the box.I have a few cons, as follows:1) Unit powers up to the last channel used, as mentioned in the manual. It should always power up to channel 16 for emergency turn on.2) Changing channels is difficult. The unit switches over to a channel list using very small font that require the use of reading glasses. It should continue to use a large font channel number somewhere on the display to help folks that don't have good vision up close.3) Little to no trouble shooting information. i.e. In case of difficulty.In an earlier version of my review I mentioned that I was having difficulty connecting an inexpensive GPS receiver to the UM435. I was finally able to connect a BN-880 GPS TX output to the UM435 using a TTL to RS422 convertor module. The GPS provides the UM435 with distress call position information. The RS422 convertor module was purchased on Amazon. "LM YN RS422 to TTL Mutual Conversion Module Bi-Directional Signal Module Full-Duplex 422 to Single-chip microcomputer MAX490 to TTL Module". The GPS was from elsewhere, but can be purchased on Amazon.

Es el segundo radio uniden de estos que conpro y los 2 fallaron al transmitir, solo rrciben señal, conpre otra msrca para remplazarlo
