Must have if you have a trike or any bike with one of those crappy strap rear brake thingies especially if you are converting it to an ebike. This is a direct replacement and takes about an hour to change. Would recommend having a strap wrench for removal and installation of the drum portion of the brake. The drum threads directly onto and off of the axle. This brake will not lock up the rear wheels but it will slow you down and stop you without the use of the front brake. Amazing I know. This internal expanding brake assembly replaced a clamping drum brake. The stopping effort is much greater and positive. The only negative is the axle hole is about 1mm too large. I did add a wire band to make the axle hole a perfect fit. It works perfect and I will most likely buy another one.

picture shows chrome brake. but i got a scratched grey color one. all in all i is what i expected as it functions. just trying to build a bike so that the colors work and compliment each other the right way. now i got something grey that i really want chrome. plus chrome is just better for rust prevention. i felt i got bait and switched on this order.

I put this on my girfriend's Schwinn Meridian tricycle because the little banded scooter brakes that it came with it were weak and kept cracking and squealing.Works great. No noise and plenty of stopping power. (Tip - the center hole is sligthly larger than the shaft on the drive hub. Just squeeze the brake lever to center it while tightening the shaft.)
