My dishwasher would power on but wouldn’t start any of the cleaning cycles. It had some standing water that wouldn’t drain, but the filters and water supply/drain lines were clear, and the pumps weren’t making any noises like they were trying to start. So I looked at replacing this piece. After turning off the dishwasher circuit breaker, and taking apart the circuit board cover, I could see burn marks around the old connector. I tried to remove it and the wire side connection crumbled. I didn’t have enough wire to cut the damaged part and connect a new terminal so I had to splice in more wire.To repair the dishwasher I needed:This door latchWire strippers for 16 gaugeWire crimper for 16 gaugePhillips screwdriverTorx / security bit (I think it was T20)16 gauge wire4 Butt connectors (16 gauge)4 insulated disconnect terminals (16 gauge)Basic steps:Turn dishwasher breaker off.Verify no power by trying to turn on your dishwasher.Open dishwasher door.Remove the screws on the inside of the door to remove the control panel/circuit board. I needed to take the door off to access mine completely. With door removed, remove the door latch screws and circuit board screws/cover.Cut the old wire to remove the old terminals and old door latch. I cut about 2 inches above where the terminal was.Strip the ends of the old wireCut 4 pieces of new wire that’s long enough to replace the old wire.Strip both end of the 4 new wires.Crimp 1 terminal end to each of the 4 new wires.Crimp 1 butt connector to the other side of the new wires.Crimp the other side of the butt connector to the original wire on the dishwasher.Connect these 4 wires to the new door latch. 1 color wire pair should be on the left 2 terminals of the door latch while the other color pair is on the right. The sides don’t matter. Just the color pair of wires need to be together.Screw everything back together.Turn the circuit breaker on.Hopefully your dishwasher works again.

The door latch on our Frigidaire dishwasher failed. This was swapped in with relative ease and it works like a charm.

Was easily able to replace the broken piece with this, by myself, and our dishwasher was good as new! Still working great after a couple months.

Product was easily put into place where broken latch came from….biggest challenge was taking off the back of the door. I did not have a screwdriver for screws with a head shaped like a star. Luckily a friend with the correct type was available to help. It took both of us to get that back on, too! But thankful I did not have to pay $40 for the part, and $200 to install like the quote from the appliance store quoted!!!Thankful for another friend who diagnosed the problem was the latch! The door would not close enough to run the wash cycle, and I thought it was the cabinet it was built in to that was the problem!!

bought " new" from scratch and dent place,, first to go was a 1 dollar part on the exhaust which is part of the self test before beginning to wash,, second was the front switch which was a direct replacement, easy part to put in,, I have come to realize that people slam this door, and that breaks the switch which for some reason as designed with two switches,, switching power and neutral,, which to me seems very strange was to do something,,,, anyhow,, we now gently shut the door and all is good.. wont buy another frigidaire though,,

I couldn’t believe it when I started having problems again with my dishwasher so I took it apart again and the piece I literally just replaced in October had failed by January! Not sure if this was just an unlucky batch or this manufacturer, but I went elsewhere for my next one.

Its amazing that replacement parts are available. The switch is relatively low cost compared to the OEM one. It fits perfectly into the dishwasher and works. I would suggest NOT opening the dishwasher while it's running. If the heater or motor is running, it can cause arcing between the switch contacts damaging it. These are leaf switches so the contacts take a while to open allowing the arc to continue for some time damaging the contacts.

This part looks totally different than the original, but fits perfect with the same locating pins and mounting screws. I installed the part and connected the wiring plugs and it has been perfect so far. I was having the PF (power failure) code which has a few possibilities. In my case replacing the door latch mechanism did the trick.

Part is physically not the same as previous part but do fit right in place. So far does a very good job at keeping the door closed.Very happy to find a quick replacement and for cheap!
