In 2002, Minus33 was created by textile engineers from L. W. Packard & Co. Inc. L. W. Packard has been involved in just about every aspect of the wool industry, and a proud family-owned business since 1916. In 1995, L.W. Packard was selected by Textile World magazine as one of the top ten textile plants in the world.
With so much of our family history rooted in the wool industry, combined with our genuine passion for the outdoors, it only made sense for Minus33 to emerge as a merino wool clothing brand. Minus33 began as a snowmobile brand, and quickly expanded to other outdoor markets, such as hiking, skiing, and hunting due the versatility of our product offering.

MOISTURE WICKING
Minus33 Merino Wool regulates the amount of moisture on your skin by absorbing any moisture or sweat on your body. Then, the absorbed moisture evaporates out of the fabric into the atmosphere.
INSULATES WHEN WET
Wool will absorb up to 30% of its weight in moisture without feeling wet or clammy. If you do get wet, wool will insulate you better than cotton or polyester materials.
UV PROTECTION
Don’t worry about sunburn on a sunny day summiting a peak. Lightweight layers have a UPF rating of 25. Midweight and Expedition have a UPF rating of 50+.
RENEWABLE
Merino Wool has a low environmental footprint and naturally returns to the elements. Shear a merino sheep in the morning, and in the afternoon they’re happily nibbling their way towards renewing next season’s clip.

I have not had them very long but I bought a few pairs each of Minus 33 Mountain Heritage and Darn Tough Tactical for a SE Michigan winter outdoor job. I like them both equally but they have some differences. Both are Over the Calf with the Darn Tough being slightly thinner and smoother while the Minus 33 are thus a bit thicker and fluffier. Both are warm and well cushioned so far. They don't stink when I take them off. They both are wearing well but early days yet. Similar handling for washing and such. I love that they stay up. I bought Dickies and Carhartt in the past at about half the price so that is my starting point for comparison. Currently I'd recommend either.

How these are so warm without being nearly as thick as many of my other heavy Winter socks are is a mystery. Come up almost to the knee. Not tight, but just enough to stay completely in place and not slide down a bit. I've worn these several dosen times prior to this review. Hate those "just opened the package and look good. 5 stars" reviews. They are pointless and worthless. But these socks are really great. On the thin side of a 'mid-weight' sock so they can be worn with regular shoes, yet warmer than my super thick hunting socks. Feet don't overheat if you wear them inside all day either. Excellent quality, always warm without being too hot, pretty much the perfect cool to really cold weather sock. Keeping your calf warm too really helps too! Price is high, but worth it. After several dozen washings I can find absolutely no indication of wear. No pilling or pulling. No loose threads. Just a superior sock.

Used for artic cold weather hiking. Best and most comfortable attire. Bought these socks, long John’s and jackets top from minus33. It was expensive but worth every penny! Out of a large group of individuals hiking in middle of December I was the only one to leave a 3 week hike without frostbite on my fingers or toes and I was comfortable the entire time. Never got to hot/ wet and sticky and only had one set of long John’s and jacket due to costs. Again. It’s worth every penny if you are going into cold weather. When we hike in the artic it hit below -30 on most of the days.

These are really serious woolen socks and well made. Often I wear woolen socks for daily wear, but these socks are quite tall and deluxe and seem best to reserve for a special occasion, such as with your favorite boots during the winter.These socks would make an excellent gift.

arrived quickly. it's a good pair of wool socks. the fit is as expected. they are decently thick & warm. also barely any itchiness as compared to some other wool clothing. just be sure to follow cleaning instructions or they won't last long. good value overall.

You are a fool not to wear these .A doctor suggested getting thicker socks for a foot problem and I got these .I honestly only have a one pair of black dress socks left and when I wear those it feels like I am barefooted.These socks seemly last forever and when I refresh my sock drawer I give the old ones to my workers who suddenly only wear these kind of socks .I work in a situations where we are laundry challenged and could wear these socks for a week or more before needed cleaning - even use to wash them in a utility sink and dried them overnight .If I was homeless this be absolutely the best product to survive with .I started giving a pair of these socks to my favorite workers at the beginning of the season - they all thought it was a bit strange ( esp the women ) but ended up loving them and buying more for themselves . Oh , the women will tell a new teammate who got the socks to wait till they used them before writing that I was weird on the bathroom wall !I even bought my wife a pair and for the last five years she only wears those socks for work .Trust me , I am not a sicko sock nut but you gotta believe me !Not fancy , not glam but darn fine real comfort hot or cold .

I love these socks. They make my feet feel like I'm walking on pillows. I just bought a second pair and the quality is just as the first pair I tried. Highly recommend these socks.

Merino wool is great. Cushions, warm, and feels great on your feet. These socks are especially nice. Nice tight fit and obviously well made. Highly recommended. Among the best merino wool socks I've tried.Tip: Wool can shrink in the dryer. I pull mine from the washer and let them dry in the air.

The socks are warm but not happy with the build quality as the toe end of the left sock has some threads that look like they are coming off and will not last very long. I dont know if its the pair i got or they are all made like that. These are premium socks and I expect them to last me a few years atleast. Its not even a week of wearing yet and I have started to see deterioration. Very disappointed..

These are really nice warm socks for -33 degrees Celsius. We had many rigid colds days in Ontario and these are the perfect socks. They do run small so you may want to order a size up. They feel so soft on my feet that I did not want to take them off. They are well made so I hope they will last for a long time - specially for the price.
