As an audiophile I was intrigued by a simple way to connect headphones to a PC when it happens to have no headphone jack of its own. Since the USB end gets all of its data digitally, in order for the headphones to work it would have to convert this digital data to analog as a DAC would and it would have to let Windows know its purpose to be plug and play as the ad says it is. All I can tell you is: IT DOESN'T WORK IN WIDOWS 11. I tested it on three different machines and it really screw up Windows Explorer which hardly works at all when it is plugged in and usually crashes. Needless to say I cannot recommend this device to anyone.

I got this USB Audi dongle because when I insert any 3.5mm headset into my laptop it ask what device I inserted and I have to setup Mic manually to that headset. USB based audio dongles/dac have good thing that when you insert windows automatically make them default speaker and default Mic.I tested it with multiple earphones and headphones and while audio decoding/playback part is good. Mic part of this has very poor quality so essentially Audio encoding part on this Dac is very poor. Windows 11 detects it as "AB13X USB AUDIO"I have used those headphones with other Dacs and Mic is fantastic and voice is crystal clear with other Dacs.So if you are buying it solely for audio playback then it would fine but if you plan to use a 3.5mm headset with mic then this will be a let down.

My headphone jack is on the back of my iMac and so if I want to plug speakers in or a set of headphones, I have to twirl the iMac around on my desk and plug them in. I have a USB hub that hangs down from the Mac and is quite accessible. So I plugged this USB sound card into an empty USB-A port and like magic, I could plug my headphones in and still have my speaker plugged into the port on the back of the computer. To choose between the two, I just select the speaker icon on my menu bar and then select the device I want to hear sound from. Saves a lot of time and effort moving my computer around to access the sound jack. I don't have a PC, but I assume it works the same way on them.

I wanted something easy to leave attached to a headset for easier use when I needed to use it, and my headset has a single TRRS jack which requires a splitter for use on my pc. I figured this would be so much easier to plug into the front panel instead of using the splitter and trying to remember which jack on the front of my pc is for headphones and which is for mic as they aren't labled.Unfortunately, after plugging this into my pc, there was a constant clicking noise on both the headphone output and microphone input. This is not present with the same headset plugged into the headphone/mic jacks.I would not recommend this.
