Why Does the UV Light Not Make Urine or Stains Glow?
- Used/lower power batteries - BRIONAC LEDs use a lot of battery power. Used batteries can deliver markedly lower UV light output and therefore it is difficult to the find urine stains under resultant weaker glows.
- Length of wavelength - Its UV emission wavelength rating should be between 360-370nm, the lower band UV light will not be enough to illuminate cat urine, the higher wavelength is too similar to natural light to be effective.
- Not searching in complete darkness - Only by searching in pitch black conditions will we easy to find the full spectrum of glows at their brightest, from vivid and intense colors to the very faintest glows from previous stains.
- Not searching in the right areas - Sometimes you'll smell the stains yet see nothing. This could well be because you don't try your best to look around! The place may be very very creative where they urinate.
- Difficult in dark or patterned surfaces - Darker colors will absorb more light and reduce glows, which makes it very difficult to detech contrasts. Dark carpet or patterned colors won't show dirt or stains as easily as light carpet colors under the uv light.

Don't waste your money on the smaller sizes- compact, penlight, whatever. They just can't do the job. THIS blacklight flashlight is large enough to broadcast a strong bright "blue green" beam to light up the tiniest or large urine stains on the floor. Works best in dark room. Some reviews said it works in a lighted room, but it's really not very effective. Dimly lit, it works OK. In a dark room you won't miss a thing. Urine spots that have been cleaned and deodorizer will still floress, only the florescent stain wil be much dimmer than a stain that hasn't been treated. A cleaned stain usually can't be seen when the light is off. But in the dark with the black light shining on it, no matter how clean it is, it will always leave a dim florescent mark, especially on untreated wood like subflooring.. it may no longer have an odor, but it will dimly be florescent under blacklight forever.I discovered urine stains that I missed with smaller lights under molding/trimboards for flooring, This is possibly one area that pet owners miss when they can't figure out where that lingering mystery urine odor is coming from . If you have a male cat, they may spray higher. You won't miss a thing with this large blacklightBTW, check out your light switch plates and cabinets with this , you will be surprised Dirty fingerprints can show up too.. This light is a must to clean and sanitize your home Check out uv lights.and ozone generators to eliminate lingering odors . They can destroy the odor causing bacteria in a room Some businesses and medical facilities use these. (you still have to directly treat stain first). But take precautions with the uv lights and ozone machine if you have pets and kids. Read directions carefully.

This black light is very portable and give off some very strong light. It feels very sturdy, and not like a cheap toy. If you're in need of a black light in order to search an area for whatever, I'd recommend this one. It's as easy and portable to use as any flashlight, but illuminates a fairly large area with intense light. A word of caution - you don't want to shine this light too close into your or anyone's eyes as I found I started getting a headache just from simply getting briefly flashed in the eyes indirectly by the light. I imagine the UV put off by the light could be damaging to your eyes very quickly. When using the light as directed by shining it onto other objects or the ground I did not experience any eye discomfort or pain.

I bought this to find urine stains my cats left in protest of a long trip I took.I found the light works on some surfaces but not others. It had a harder time showing dried stains, and stains on cardboard. The stain on my red metal tool box looked like a shadow. It didn't show stains on clothing at all. It showed brilliantly on the porcelain toilet. I found using a pair of yellow glasses helped a lot when looking for stains. The glasses made it easier to see the stains that look like shadows. I picked up a pair of yellow glasses at the auto parts store. Im not sure why the light didn't show all the stains, but im definitely glad I got the brightest one I could buy. Im not totally satisfied with the job the light does, but I would buy it again. Even though I can't see all the stains, it did help me find more than half of them... and anything is better than having to smell around for them. LoL

I was a bit skeptical but ordered it anyway because our new pup is leaving a smelly carpet at night but by morning it had dried and I couldn't 'see' where it was - only smell. When I got my Brionac UV Flashlight (Blacklight) and tried it - It worked; but when I darkened the room it showed the stains IN DETAIL. That's the GOOD news! The BAD news? There are a LOT more stains than I thought! Oh well, at least now I know...

I bought this light specifically to find cat urine that I could smell but not find. When I used the light I was able to find some stains but they were not cat urine stains. When I finally found the cat urine I user to light to confirm and it only showed a faint light yellow stain on the surface it was at. Unless you are looking super low and at an angle it can be hard to miss. This light didn't have the yellow goggles so not sure if that makes a difference.

We have an apartment bldg and this tool works like a charm for creating evidence that we can photograph for court regarding the cat urine that has left odor but no visible trace. It has showed how the urine dripped behind molding, saturated flooring, was in corners of rooms, in the water heat fins, and was in carpet coinsiding with wall squirts.

First I would like to say that I was pleased with the way the item was shipped and the way it did what it was supposed to do when it was working. What I Do Not like is the first time it got knocked off a dresser top on to the carpet it BROKE! After it fell I picked it up and it was rattling and it would not turn on. I mean a little drop completely wrecks a flashlight that looks like it could be used to repel an attacker? Needless to say I am very unhappy with the durability of this flashlight and for that reason I could not in good conscience recommend it under any circumstances.
